The higher irony here being that the iconic "lead" members of said tribe have no idea those guys even exist, nor is the community that they are willing to shed blood for even real, lasting, or valuable.

But, on the other hand, it gives me a lot to laugh about, because I find people who can only find identity through artificial tribal identification to be hilarious. Sad. But also hilarious in that utter depth of that sadness.
