I want to bring my own racquet to FL... and it looks like I can, but I wonder about it.

Anyone try it?

1. As an airline employee...
Make sure it is in its case and if possible in a bag that contains it safely.

Just sayin'.

I carry mine on board with my carry on and that is what I would recomment.

3. Well, I stuck my racquet IN my carryon bag.
And yes it stuck out and was a big issue getting in the bin, but no one argued.

I took one of those dog tennis ball flingie things once too, and that stuck out...got dirty looks, but it was allowed.

Do you have a tennis bag with a racquet holder/case? Because that would qualify as a carryon.

5. I don't
just a cover for the head of the racquet

and I was hoping to carry-on a bag w/ some crocheting I was doing. (I looked up the TSA advisory and found that crochet hooks are not contraband... go figure.) I also carry a purse, but I can probably put whatever I'd put in the purse into the bag w/ my crocheting....

8. You are allowed a "personal item" , meaning purse...
and a carryon. I would stick that racquet in your carryon if you can. Even if the handle sticks out.

If your checked bag is big enough to contain the racquet, that will work fine too.

Most things make it through just fine. It is not theft I would worry about, but breakage...and if that happens you can file a claim.

9. I don't think Continental is charging for the first bag either.
But I could be wrong on that.
