1. Don't get the "or".
One can have a burger that is vegetarian, coated in "cheese" and "bacon" without losing anything but the cholesterol.

I mean strictly from a professional point of view, one would have to be an idiot to choose the feedlot cow product.

2. Homemade veggie burger
The scratch-made nutburgers from Sunflower Drive In in Old Fair Oaks are the best I've had anywhere in the country, and not terribly far out of my way.

19. Strongly seconded
Even though I'm not vegetarian.

Home-made certainly kicks everything else to the curb.

Go for one of the other two...

13. I second that on the veggieburger.
I think I have a cheeseburger-sized and shaped blindspot. Or is that a hole in my mind?

So, is the veggieburger one you have eaten recently or just a google image search?

I know it's against my doctor's advice and not good for my high cholesterol, but hey...I have had some yummo veggieburgers but if given the choice I gotta go for the real thing...

Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 12:12 AM by geomon666

Yes, that is a krispy kreme doughnut being used as a bun. *drool*

Over 1,000 calories and 45 grams of fat. It is literally the last burger you will ever eat.

16. Good idea on the Poutine.
Diet Coke though? Blargh!

I'd rather pour the fat drippings from the burger into a cold glass of water and drink it down then ever touch diet soda.

14. Not exactly a tough choice for someone who despises cheese
There is no circumstance I would eat a cheeseburger.

Give me Morningstar Farms Grillers Prime, by far the best veggie burger. Unfortunately, Walmart just jacked up the price. Somehow they were selling a box of Grillers for $3.68 and Grillers Prime for $2.68. I was gobbling that up for months. Then last night both prices were up to $3.72.

31. I hate the taste, sight, smell and the very knowledge that cheese exists
When I enter a shopping mall or restaurant with a distinct cheese smell I have to run for cover. Parmesan is the worst offender. I could kill anyone who was holding or eating parmesan and I wouldn't consider it a punishable offense.

I'm hardly alone in hating cheese. There have been many related threads on DU over the years and several posters have chimed in with virtually the same opinion.

Not a vegan. I can devour a Whopper, in fact several at a time. But any joint that sticks cheese on my burgers can go to hell. Wendy's is the prime offender. I'm boycotting them again, at least the 3rd time. That chain seems to think cheese is a bonus, no matter what I say to prevent it. This strategy sounded good but didn't work at Wendy's drive-thrus: "My top priority is no cheese."

21. Other: Turkeyburger
I just can't get the substitute meat burger (aka "veggie") blah! But I'm not a big red meat eater either (though I do enjoy a burger now and then) but my cousins introduced me to turkey burgers.
They taste good and aren't as greasy or as bad for you.

22. Turkeyburgers are good, I also like venison-burgers.
I don't hunt but I have relatives who do, and I'll certainly be happy to help them eat the deer meat so none of it goes to waste.

Venison... yum yum.

28. Assuming it's home-made, I'll go with "other" - lambburger.
Ground lamb is more expensive than ground beef, though not outrageous, but it makes some amazing burgers. Especially if you add a little garlic salt and lemon juice. :9
