;)

Just having fun with ya. I actually hated (and still do) the so called adults who look down their noses at younger people. Personally, I can't wait for your generation to be in charge of things.

And happy belated birthday!!!

6. I'm not a big fan of 'em, either. If I were ever to have children, I'd adopt teenagers.
I prefer people I can have a conversation with, and who can, in most ways, take care of themselves - dress themselves, eat, get to school, and so forth.

Children are fine for a while, and I do enjoy them at summer camp and it's fun to watch them have fun, but they're way too fucking needy.

And they don't talk about interesting subjects.

So, no kids for me.

And it's okay.

It's also good that you recognize that you don't like them, and are deciding (probably) against having them. Too many people have children who really don't enjoy them, and that's too bad. It makes for sad children, and also for sad adults.

86. Hear, hear.
I'm hoping to just survive my kids' teen years. They CAN carry on an intelligent conversation...but they won't unless it's in the form of a telephone conversation with their best friend/boyfriend/girlfriend because they're too busy being 'misunderstood'. They CAN clean their room...if the health department threatens to come in and raze it if they don't. And even that doesn't work most of the time. They CAN feed themselves...provided it's junk food. And getting them to pick up a dirty spoon...a napkin...a shoe....their underwear....

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

56. I felt this way too
I always figured that having kids from about 12 on would be a lot of fun, but not that excited about younger kids.

Now I have a 2-year old, and so far, it's been a lot more interesting and fun than I imagined. I'm still not really a baby person, but I'm definitely a lot more at ease around young kids than I used to be.

But there's certainly a lot to be said for the childless lifestyle, so I always applaud people who don't really want kids managing to both recognize that and stand up to family and social pressures to reproduce.

what he'd like for a birthday gift when he turned 18, said "A vasectomy." He worked after school as a lifeguard at an indoor swimming pool, and he'd come to consider most children obnoxious brats. Now he has a son whom he loves more than anyone else in the world.

I have nieces. I decided to let my brother do all the work. :-) I have disposable income and I can travel and save puppies and kittens.

Buy long term care insurance when you go into the workforce. Save a bunch of money and you can hire people to take care of you in old age and stay out of nursing homes. :-)

when kids act like idiots, it's mostly due to the fact that they're just kids and bad parenting.
when adults act like idiots, they have no excuse.

"What's that book you can't stop reading," she asked, wondering what I could find so riveting.

"It's called Small Sacrifices," said I.

"Well, what's it about," she asked.

"It's about a woman who tried to murder her own children."

"Yeeew - where'd you find a book like that," she queried.

"At the bookstore," I replied, "in the self-help section."

They are soooo childish. Seriously. I don't enjoy their company at all.

73. Likewise.
I'm too old to safely have a baby by now, anyway, and I don't see myself adopting, either. There are some kids that I get along with very well, if they're bright and curious and interested in the world around them ... but I still wouldn't want them in my home. It's better for us to be honest about that in advance, than to make a mistake that would adversely affect multiple lives. Nothing to apologize for, and nothing to allow yourself to be guilt-tripped over.

77. I felt the same way
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 09:50 PM by Gilligan
for most of my life.

I hated it when dumb asses told me I would change my mind.

I had a great youth without having kids...

Then I hit my 40's...

Eva- I am going to turn 52 in January. My son is 9 and my daughter will be 8 in November.... I would not change a single thing about them. But... honestly, I am NOT a kid person.

But... all the kids in the neighborhood end up here to hang with me and my kids. I am the neighborhood mom.

No matter what, do what YOU want. Have kids don't have 'em. Just be YOU.

I adore you and have watched your videos for YEARS and you are one great, almost grown up!

xoxo

Gilligan

78. Most parents I know don't seem to like kids either.
Screaming at them, smacking them, and talking about what a pain in the ass they are.

80. I've heard that line before
From a dear friend; a physics braniac from Oxford no less.

Who now has three children of her own, and has become a midwife by profession.

He that speaks ill of the Mare, will buy her.

83. I love kids, but at the same time, I don't want to subject the world to my spawn...
so I have quite a conundrum here, because, since I know I'm evil, who knows what depths of evil they would achieve!

Other than marrying Mrs. E , of course :D

Don't let anybody guilt trip you into having if you don't want them. It's your choice, whater you choose..

87. It is a really individual choice; if you still feel that way as your life
goes on, then you are wise to not have them. Parenthood is not for everyone! And even those of us who wanted and have them are not always as good as we'd like to be, that's for sure...
I just can't get over people like Susan Smith who kill their children; that freaks me out more than almost anything.

kids of her own either, she's been saying that since she was about your age. I told her it's fine, she's in charge of her own destiny. My 2nd hubby never wanted his own children.

Nothing wrong with it at all.

97. At 18, I fucking hated kids
And certainly didn't want any, at least right then. At 32, I like my own kid most of the time and my niece and nephews, but that's mostly it. I'm still not particularly fond of children. They're annoying and squeaky.

Married 18 years this month, and still no kids.

Lots of furry little friends, though.

101. Having kids will change your life--forever. You can't return them.
You also can't predict whether you'll get boys or girls or whether they'll be normal (nothing medically
risky).

It takes a lot of money to raise them.

I do think the old saying of "when in doubt, don't" definitely applies to having kids.

102. I used to think that, too.
 Seriously, I NEVER thought I'd have kids.

And then, somewhere in my mid-20's my perspective changed.

If there's one thing you can count on in life it's that EVERYTHING CHANGES.

Of course, it's perfectly OK if you don't ever have kids, I'm just sayin' you might change your mind with the passage of time.

Or not. :D

:hi: Hey, how'd ya do on your SAT's?
