By the way, they were AWESOME. He is definitely not overrated.

Jenny Lewis was pretty amazing opening up too.

2. Nice. My ex was a huge Melvins fan.
I never really got into em myself.

3. An aquired taste.
My friend was into them big time for about a year, and he played them a lot around me. I liked some of it, but overall it didn't move me. He finally made me a compilation tape of their stuff, and I played while having sex one night...and for some reason it all clicked.

Can't figure out why I'm single. :D

4. Most recently: Flogging Molly, The Roots, and Gogol Bordello
All 3 bands kicked major amounts of ass.

6. Saw them in Saratoga, NY back in August, along with Bob Dylan, Levon Helm, Steve Earle, plus...

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, The Swell Season, and a couple of lesser known artists.

Dylan was the headliner of course and by the time he came on, it was about 10:30 and I was very tired.

It was a pretty amazing show, expecially considering how cheap the tickets were.

Levon Helm and his band really rocked.

7. Joe Satriani on the 17th
:wow: It wasn't the first time I'd seen him, but it was a smallish venue, we had kick-ass seats (thanks sis for standing in line 2 hours to get in early - general admission), and he totally rocked the house. Mountain (Leslie West, Corky Laing and Rev Jones) opened, and they were great too.

9. I saw these guys on Sunday
http://www.brass5.com/index.html

I'm a band geek, of course, but these guys are freaking AMAZING. :) They played some great jazz & blues standards, a killer arrangement of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," and a bunch of other stuff. They also had some fun onstage banter, and presented some interesting background information about their repertoire during the performance, and they also seem like really nice people - I got a chance to chat with a few of the members before and after the concert, and they were all super cool. :) Seriously, it was awesome, and if you ever get the chance to see these guys perform, I'd highly recommend it.
