Random Emotional Outpouring: I missed DU and am happy to be back here

I joined DU back in 2003 ("Mike03"--no space between the Mike and the 03) but left about six or seven months ago. I was going through a personally tough time and needed to take a break from the internet in general and politics in particular.

But I'm so excited by what has transpired over this past summer, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome or the direction we appear to be headed.

I guess I just wanted to reintroduce myself. It's so reassuring to see so many familiar names here, and DU seems much more united and pleasant. Tuesday night should be one of the greatest nights of my life, but having lived through that night in 2004 (which I spent on DU, of course), I never take good news for granted.

I'll be a nervous wreck for the next eight days. During this period, once again, DU will be my security blanket!

I would if I could. I'm not sure how to get my old account back, because I intentionally altered the email and passwords so I couldn't remember them. Maybe Skinner could restore my old account, but I'm sure he's got better things to do.

address that I had when I registered over 4 years ago but I couldn't forget a password that

6. It's a long story

I asked to have my account terminated, but no one would terminate it.

So I altered my email (on "my account") and had a "new password" sent to that email so I wouldn't know what it was. So it was then physically impossible for me to log into my account.

I know it sounds strange, but I was in a strange space and I really needed to leave, but on the other hand I love(d) this place.

Anyway, my physical address is still the same, my credit card number is probably the same, and I could still provide the adminstrators with my real email addy and I suppose maybe they could restore my account. It would be kind of nice to have all that back, but I imagine the admins have a lot more important things to attend to now.

I used to suspect it too, not only during elections but during big news cycles during which (usually) republicans were indicted for some criminal behavior.

But all of that's going to change. I can't wait. I've been praying for this for eight years.

Things settled down here a lot. My father is doing much better.

More importantly, I am so proud of Obama and so happy he is in the position he is in. I'm holding onto hope for the first time in eight years.

Yeah, during the primaries I never left the Lounge. I rarely do anyway, but now it's much safer to scoot into GD for a few minutes than it was in the spring.
