I didn't get the job!
It's best I just say it. :P However I think the interview went well and I was encouraged to keep applying to positions there because "eventually" I'd be hired. In this case, my qualifications were not complete which is a huge problem for me... I've taken the classes but the hospital doesn't like the school where I was certified. Guess I'll be taking them again somewhere else. So, that's a downer but I hardly care because I didn't need those Depends!

Thank you for all your support, DUers. It was very, very helpful. :grouphug: :loveya:

6. It's the looking that's frustrating, yes.
I have friends better qualified than me to do everything, and they can't find a job either. It's really tough trying to get back into the workplace after years at home with kids.

28. Yup. You've had the best job experience in the world being a mom.
And they don't let it count for much in the market. Strange.

29. There's something like a prejudice against us.
All of my long-term jobs from post-college to now, I've got through temping. The resume looks bad (apparently) and my demeanor inspires a desire not to hire... but give me the job and I'll kick ass and prove my worth. It's ever been thus. This time I was hoping to go the resume route but I think it's back to the temp office I go.

7. I'm not sure it was a long shot, but I do know that probably
fifty candidates applied, at least, so I was lucky to be interviewed. The tone of the interview was very positive so I'm actually encouraged. Sorta. :hi:

48. groovy attitude!
Sweet.....haven't heard that word in a long time....feelin' groovy :hippie:
I think it's great that you're so upbeat, you don't seem to be dwelling on the strife of life...
There is a job awaiting you...you know that much.
I also see a psychologist...problem is, she's too much like me. I wish she'd be more objective...
When I tell her something she blurts, "Oh My God!" ...kind of funny, she is.
Best wishes, and I think hanging at the lounge makes for good vibes...
Really a nice place here, so am glad you're getting lots of love and support...

peace~

I tried new technique to get through the dreaded interview this time, and they worked. A little research goes a long way, for example. Anyhow, I need interviewing practice so it wasn't a waste of time. Hiya, Elrond. :D

12. Neither did I
I just got an email yesterday informing me that I "had not been selected".

It was a long process (University job). I applied back in June. Got an interview in September. And waited while the decision was delayed time and again.

I consider myself lucky. Most places won't even send the email and ignore requests for a decision.

I need a new line of work.

14. I'm truly sorry, Canuckistanian.
Your ordeal was obviously worse than mine, because everything happened over just a month or so, and the monstrous medical complex I apply at is very good with keeping one updated on status of the application, etc. Right now I have about ten balls in the air, but this was only my second request for an interview (I declined the first). Here's to you :toast: May you find work in a line that intrigues and energizes you. :toast:

But it doesn't compare to a solid contract or FT position.

Cheers! :toast: :hi:

22. Thanks, my Lovely.
I'm really doing okay. I spoke with the STBE husband last night and he told me to assume I wasn't going to get the job - to do my best but not expect the world - and then I'd do okay. I did okay, and my failure was actually out of my hands. I asked the interviewer why my application had been chosen and she was very encouraging. So it wasn't a lost cause.

Still, it's nice to have friends like you around.

26. I didn't say it was great that I was laughing and in fact I haven't
analyzed it. But to clarify: you praised my attitude and my thought was, I have no choice. Why not be positive. Then there came a small twinge of pleasure, to know that I have evolved thus far that the smaller setbacks cause minimal pain, and that's why I laughed. Not at you, but at living. Better?

40. I know you do.
My parents (I am 45!!!) decided to send me some money each month to help with heat. It's the oddest feeling... they did pay for college but since then I've been entirely on my own. Now they recognize my situation and are responding with kindness. It's humbling, and sort of wonderful, and rather terrible. You know? Hope not. Thanks, kagehime. I'm out of the loop. 42. Taking the first step is always the hardest
The secret is to take another step. And then another. And then another. And then eventually you will no longer be thinking about taking the next step. You will be walking to work instead.

Don't give up.
