1. Guide dog, or other service dog
In addition to being helpful to people with disabilities (not just blindness), most that I've known have been magnificent specimens. And I'm a cat person.

They don't bite, don't even seem to know they can. They're playful, love everyone. Yeah, they eat anything and everything. But I've learned to live with that. Don't think I could learn to live without a beag!

31. Poodle
as a person who trained dogs for 15 years and have owned many best friends over the years - I have come to love the poodle. They are loyal and smart. I had 2 black toys who went all over the world with me. They flew in their bags by my seat and were welcomed where ever we went - They were not neurotic nor yippy. They were adorable, clean and well behaved. I miss them both to this day.

(I love dogs of all kinds there are a few breeds I would never own but I refuse to answer here :)

But now I have an adorable chihuahua - who is also smart, not neurotic nor yippy. I love my little girl!

39. i've had some good mutts, but a pure bred dog is an achievement.
like a work of art. a tradition handed down from generation to generation.
i love my boxer, and life would not be complete without one.
i love my little rat terriers, although they are yipping fools.
i do love most of them, and hate to see a poorly bred one as much as i hate to see a velvet elvis.
i love to see a hunter hunt. a retriever fetch. a guard dog stand their ground.
great achievements of humankind, they are. and damn good of them to put up with us, also.

74. I have a lab mix. He is HUGE at 100 pounds. He is all love and very very
patient with all children. He still plays with each child at their level except I don't let him play with teens (they are too rough he is 10 years old).
He is respectful with old people and loves everyone and believes everyone loves him (and eats anything... typical lab). He is asleep at my feet now. He looks like Ol' Yeller and the neighbors know when something is happening... he gives his great one woof!

I also have a pointer mix. We all adore our little bundle of walking energy and she is delightful to watch ... but Big Man is our love. Both are spayed and/or neutered. And both are rescued dogs.
