SALEM, Ore. -- Two duck hunters found a human leg in the Willamette River Monday near Newberg.

Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree said it was a woman’s leg found near Rogers Landing. Crabtree said the woman was of "advanced age," between 5'4" and 5'7" tall.

The right pelvic bone, femoral bone, knee area, tibia and fibula bones were found, but no clothing. Medical examiners at the University of North Texas were analyzing DNA.

“Due to the amount of water flowing in the Willamette River, it is not uncommon for us to find remains that have floated downstream from Polk, Marion, Lane or even Linn counties” Crabtree said. “At this time we have no missing persons from Yamhill County who fit the description that we have been given. We are working closely with adjoining counties, and have leads that we are actively investigating”.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Yamhill County Sheriffs Office.

6. Que "Dueling Banjos"
Especially if it came from -er- POLK County.

Oye.
West side of Portland is the closest I ever came to living in Newberg. Used to waterski near there many years ago, though.

Yet another reason to avoid the Willamette.
