I am not making this up -- a bug just screamed at me
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 11:35 AM by jumptheshadow
About once a year the maintenance people here do some work in the pipes and that leads to a Godzilla-sized cockroach confronting us in our bathroom. (Luckily, we don't usually see roaches elsewhere in the household.) I mean, these are roaches are huge, like they are on steroids or something.

We have had a couple of mega-roach sitings in the past two days. Today, I saw it sitting in the bathroom sink. So I got some paper and tried to whisk it to the john.

That damn bug screamed. Well, maybe scream is too strong a word for it. It made a noise like "ah" that sounded like a human when it was startled. I was so surprised -- and unnerved -- that I dropped it. It disappeared somewhere in the vicinity of the toilet.

I never knew that a roach could scream.

I haven't been watching too much "Fringe," have I?

2. Good to hear!
I have heard a cockroach make a noise when it was scared too, and it sounded like a scream to me. I was about 5 and had no idea that they didn’t scream, so I just went to ask my mom about it. She thought I was making it up. I thought that if I could find it again, well we could sorta be friends.

3. Thank you Jump for trying to get the bug..
Ok so let me first explain that nothing, and I mean nothing, makes me scream like a girl like a bug of any sort. The once yearly invasion of the giant roach is an event that I dread, perhaps second only to mammograms. So I want to publicly thank jump for taking it upon herself to rid our household of this unholy invader.

This is however by no means a pass on letting this thing live in our home. Just cause it makes a noise does not mean I am going to make friends with it. I have been encouraging the cats to hang out in the bathroom till the screaming stops.

4. Good GOD!
They scream?! I'm deaf - so these kind of things normally escape me.

Ugh. Regardless if I see one in my house again, they're meeting my new friend, Raid.
