Fucking dumbass drivers!

Earlier today, my Sister was in a car accident, nothing serious, but damn is this just dumb. OK, my sister was at an intersection, in the left turn lane, and the green arrow turned on, so she proceeded to make a left turn onto the other road. At the same time, a lady on the opposite side of the street was making a right turn. This wouldn't be a problem, the road both my sister and this lady are turning on is two lanes wide. The problem was this, my sister stuck to her lane, the lady, on the other hand, didn't, she drifted into my sister's lane, and hit the passenger side of my sister's car, scraping a lot of paint off and denting the back passenger door.

The fucked up part was this, my sister saw that this lady was getting to close to her car, and so she honked her horn to get the lady's attention, didn't help, the lady still hit her. What is even more fucked up is that when they pulled over to exchange information, the lady tried to claim that it was my sister's fault that she hit her. My sister called the cops, to verify what really happened, and the lady shut up about claiming it was my sister's fault in front of the cop, and when my sister finally called the insurance company later to report the accident(coincidentally, both the lady and my sister have the same insurance company), the insurance company said the lady claimed fault when she reported it over the phone. At least my sister doesn't have to pay the deductible to fix the damage, nor will her rates go up, hopefully.

I don't know what this lady was thinking, both before the accident and afterward, but did she think my sister, just because she's young(24) was going to roll over and take it when the lady lied? She must be incredibly stupid.

I'm just glad my sister is OK.

1. First of all I'm glad your sister is ok! It drives me crazy

the way people drive around here too! I see that exact situation happening every day. It's a wonder there aren't more 'accidents' out of stupidity and total disregard for the law.

Your sister did well. I'm glad she won't have to pay the deductible and that the woman admitted fault.

2. right on red must come to a complete stop before proceding

if your sister had a green arrow, chances are the other driver had a red, and was required to yeild right of way.

3. At least she finally admitted fault....

some years back, I got rear-ended by some asshat on a phone. He didn't admit or deny fault at the scene (to me at least) but unless he was gonna say that I backed into him, there's really no way he COULD lay the blame anywhere else. My damage was minimal so I was just going to wait on the insurance company to send a check (that I planned to pocket to apply to a down payment on a new car). Next thing I know- I got a subpoena to appear in court. The idiot was going to fight the ticket!!!! I had to take time off of work to go down there.

In court, the guy lied and said he was "looking at a map." Fortunately the Judge was a reasonable sort and stopped him right there. "You weren't paying attention to your driving. You are at fault. Please apologize to Mr. SacredCow for wasting his time, and go pay the fines and court costs."

4. There's a lot of those intersections where I live

and people still don't get it. Greedy bastards.
