4. Why do men buy sports cars when they break up?
Seriously, I left a string of new MG and Triumph
owners behind me in my youth....

Always with the British sports cars....

6. The maintenance would be expensive but i suppose if you already 100k to spend on a car
you wouldn't care.

My husbands Porsche is absurd to maintain, a mistress would be more cost effective.

a mistress may be less expensive...

as the years go buy, I think the car would be cheaper, unless of course I take this car to the track as it is designed to do, and wreck it...

oops, goodbye 114K...Insurance isn't going to cover you...

edit: in all honesty, I would rather have a classic 911 than a new one. even if it would be less reliable, powerful, and fast. And even if I know it would need lots of care...

7. Just make sure you're doing it for the right reasons.
There's a difference between treating yourself and compensating for something missing. That's why the stereotype of the 'mid-life crisis' involves buying something like that, they feel they need to compensate for a lack of something in their life. :)

Of course, this is coming from someone cheap enough that to me, 'treating myself' involves either buying a new videogame or going out for chinese food. :P

I hate shopping and spending money.

I prefer camping instead of resort hotels.

And no girlie-girl drinks for me - a beer does me just fine.

seriously. I was complaining about it this morning. Woe is the guy who wants a woman who loves to dress up, eat fancy places, hates sports, loves the nightlife, doesn't want children and prefers cocktails to lower-class libations. I want someone who is fun, dammit. They just don't make them like Audrey Hepburn anymore.

Apparently, because of my "class", I don't know how to play dress-up and go out and have fun. :eyes:

of people drinking PBR and Schlitz and Steel Reserve for kitsch value. I'm not drinking crappy beverages for some pseudo-ironic hipster ethos. I'm just not. I probably should have used "quality" in place of "class" though.

20. Yes, but not that.
That, my friend, screams quarter-life crisis. It's pretentious. Might I suggest a far better option, though a less "manly" one:

Invest in you. Do something that makes you happy 24 hours a day instead of 3. A car is only enjoyable when you're driving it.

Get a makeover: join a gym, get a fancy haircut, buy some new clothes, a good suit, get your teeth whitened. And if you still want a new car, buy something classic and awe-inspiring rather than the same status-symbol POS everybody else buys.

61. well, that is a 70K car
so you could buy one.

I have driven one of those. great if you only want to use it on a track, not good for anything else.

72. Nah, I'd get the club racer.
I'd never be brave enough to drive as nice a vehicle as that, or the Porsche on a city street. I'd have to re-do the curb on my driveway at the street just to get the thing to clear.

But on the track, well, that's what these things were made for. Real fun would ensue after 6000rpm.

You get whatever you want, though. It's your dough, and your decision, and as long as you like what you got, it's the right decision.

If it goes real fast, an even better decision.

If it can exceed the posted speed limit on the interstate in second gear, it's a GREAT decision.

88. It would never see the street, that's a given.
When I go fast, it's legal to do so.
