Liberal actors
If people want to support their liberal actors, I found a site that has articles and lists of different celebrities that have spoken out on or about liberal causes. The list is far from complete, but it gives people a good start to supporting the actors they know are progressive.

http://www.liberalartists.com

If people want to add to the list, the site is very happy to add more names as well.

I'm sure there is a "dark site" so to speak, with lists of conservative actors. Not that I would be caught there, dead or alive, but perhaps someday, when we're back in power, I will try to find it. :)

1. To the extent that the public seems to worship actors...
...I guess this is okay. But my God, isn't it time the average American looked somewhere else other than to the "god-like" Hollywood star for his or her ideas about what is right and wrong with this country/the world at large/etc.? Some actors are smart people. Some are idiots. And yet their opinions about politics, war and peace, etc. seem to matter to so many, in direct relation to their fame. I don't get it. Why? Because they're "famous"? Because they're in movies? So fucking what? That's their job---that's what they do. They memorize lines and deliver them. Some of them do it quite well, but why, then, should I care about their thoughts about politics?

So few of them REALLY take a stand. Tim Robbins and Sue Sarandon do, and so does Marty Sheen. Brando did in the '50s and '60s. There are a few others. But true actor/activists ---willing to risk their fame and immense incomes for the sake of what they believe---are rare. Excuse me if I don't genuflect in front of some 23-year-old who makes $5-or-$10 million a year by appearing in bullshit money-making movies and now has an opinion about war, peace, whatever.

2. I still think it's important...
From the standpoint that people who have high-profile jobs stand more of a chance of being listened to than you or me.

I don't judge a person's talent on their politics; but in these tense times, I'd prefer giving my entertainment dollars to people who oppose the misadministration.

3. It's also good from the standpoint that...
...many impressionable people sadly *do* take what celebrities say as the 'word of god'. For that reason alone, it's good to support like-minded celebs, so their popularity, and their resulting access to the media, can increase.

4. Well I see our California governor on there!
Arnold is listed on here too....don't know how the voters who
went for him would feel about that. I find it amusing.

5. I got these admitted through submissions..
Steve Earle, Lisa Loeb, Alyssa Milano, and Scarlett Johansson. I'm thinking about submitting Amber Tamblyn based on her review of an Ani DiFranco album:

8. I think thats pretty easy.

To be honest.. I'd say any actor who hasn't expressively supported Bush can be counted as liberal.

Oh can anyone add this guy

Armin Shimmerman

He played Quark on Trek and he's a BIG liberal

9. They do want fairly good evidence
Unlike the conservative sites. For example, it's pretty much accepted that Alyson Hannigan is liberal, but they said they need an article first. :-)

12. I disagree with that inclusion
I guess no site is perfect. It seems they took note of his stances on things like abortion rights, but considering his push for a gay marriage ban and how he's in bed with the corporations just like Bush, I feel his position should be revoked.
