I saw a kewl thing at Safeway yesterday - the till wanted to give a customer $4,851

I was in the next checkout over. The groceries had been checked in, the customer presented her Safeway card to get her discounts, then the total started dropping and dropping and dropping until it passed through zero and was into credit territory and accellerating by about $100 per second. It was approaching $5000 when they re-booted the till.

They said it was some sort of upload problem.

and the checker had given the customer the cash....
