An old friend recommended this board with the caveat: "Keep your head down," so I lurked for a while.

Maybe I just spent most of my time in the Lounge or in Late Breaking News, but I never noticed the, to put it politely, "intensity of emotion" on certain pages.

Have to admit, I have some opinions, but I'd be afraid to post there. Take Powell for example: I'm from the "...bad idea, warmonger, tell him to get lost..." camp, being a White Shoe Navy veteran and all, but there are some folks in the General Discussion/General Dicussion-Presidential areas that are loaded for BEAR.

I'm not a "Coom-by-yah" kind of person, but I thought we were all on the same side?

You'd be hard pressed to find any two people in this world (or any other worlds we might not know about) who agree on everything. Keeping that in mind, remember Democrats fight with each other harder than we ever fight with those on the other side of the aisle. Why? I do not know. This much I do know. DU is pretty representative of the Democratic Party at large.

The DU Lounge, good except don't talk about how you fry chicken or mention if you are a Laura Branigan fan. There have been disaster areas declared over those two topics. DU Administrators had to be called out of bed in the middle of the night (on a weeknight, no less) to stop us from cutting each others' throats in a bloodbath over how to cook chicken. The mere mention of the words, "chicken," "corn", or "flakes" would cause immediate post deletions for about a year after that. It got THAT heated. Any band would play here, no problems. We'd party THEIR asses off...as long as their caterers cooked the chicken the right way. :P

GD is our Regular Strength Prison. Proceed with CAUTION.They can get pretty violent in there. The Sex Pistols would play there, but BB King would not.

The natives in that part of the DU Prison System would love a Manson concert, Charlie, that is.
