I have a real hot button about shitty customer service.
So I bought a section of PVC pipe today at Home Depot. The shortest section they had was , I don't know, 8 or 10 feet, whatever. I only need about 36 inches. So I bring it up to the register. A lady ahead of me was buying some kind of insulation panel, and I'm chatting with her. She tells me that she has to cut the piece in half to fit it in her car. I just whip out my knife there at the register and cut it for her while she is checking out. Problem solved.
I pay for my pipe and get it out to my Blazer. It is too long to fit without it hanging out the back window. I had more errands to run, and it was chilly, so I didn't feel like driving around with my back window opened.
They have all kinds of saws for customer use in Home Depot, so I bring the pipe back in to cut it in half. They have a huge radial arm saw, but I figured I better ask before I cut plastic on it. The back overhead door was wide open near the saw, and there was an associate about 10 feet outside the door. So I step outside about 2 feet and say "Excuse me, can I use your radial arm saw to cut this in half so it will fit in my truck".
This fucking guy was bigger than me, probably about 270, and I swear, he had one of those ZZ Top beards that was about 18 inches long. He starts SCREAMING at me..."STEP BACK! STEP BACK! CUSTOMERS ARE NOT ALLOWED OUTSIDE IN THE BACK". So I just kind of smile and step back, and he says "No, you can't use the radial arm saw, that is only for wood". I say "OK, do you have another saw in the store that I can use to cut this"?
He gives me this real snarky look like he is talking to some imbecile and says "Not really".
So I just thank him and tell him I will talk to someone else. He says "Do what you want, you'll get the same answer". I'm thinking what the fuck?.....
So I go up to this lady that I kind of know from being in the store so much that works the front, tell her I needed the thing cut in half. She gets the plumbing manager, and he cuts it in about 5 seconds with a hand saw.
I thanked him and told him I had a complaint. I said that I have probably spent about $40,000 in that store over the years, and I don't need some fuck being rude to me when I ask to get a pipe cut. He said he would talk to the guy later, I said "no, I will talk to the guy". I went back to look for him, but he went somewhere.
This kind of shit pisses me off to no end. How fucking hard is it to try to help people out with a simple request? It ain't rocket science. No wonder this country is going down the tubes. A great work force? I don't see it so often, especially when associates in stores are not even trained properly on how to treat paying customers.
