My Mom's cancer is gone, and I feel like telling everybody! (Champagne recs, anyone?)
Even people who, to the extent that they know me at all, know me as Lucy "Goosey"

And it was stage 3 lung cancer! Which is what her father died of!

Just by still being alive a year after diagnosis means she has beaten the odds, but to find that the cancer is gone is just amazing, and none of us were really expecting deep down.

And seriously about the champagne, what's the good stuff? I'm a red wine drinker myself, I have no idea.

1. For real Champagne (not just sparkling wine) I like Veuve Cliquot or Piper Heidsick

or Moet Chandon.

I probably spelled all those incorrectly, but they're really close.

Congratulations on the cancer being gone!!!!!!!!!!! Good news, indeed, and well worth springing for a real bottle of Champagne (which is always capitalized).

If it's super duper exceptionally good news, you can spring for a Dom Perignon, but, truth to tell, I think you're paying much more for name than actual taste quality at that point.

7. Anything from Mumm Napa
This Sparkling Wine is made in the Traditional Method and is an excellent deal at around $17-$20.

8. I have a wine snob friend who said to go with something Californian.
I even pressed him, you know, what if money were no object, etc., and he stood by the good Cali sparkling wines. He said there is no reason to spend more than $30, and that if I'm willing to spend $100, I should just get 3 bottles!

Will look for it, thanks!

9. This wine snob concurs
The prices of Champagne (only sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France may be called Champagne) are more a reflection of rarity, not necessarily quality.

Enjoy!

15. I'll raise a glass to that.
Beating the Big C isn't easy to do and it looks like pure torture just watching someone go through that. It's good to hear that someone beat it. Cheers! :toast:
