Do you realize there is nothing on TV during the day?
I took today off because I needed a mental health day. I was just perusing through the TV listings to see what the people who didn't work all day watched on TV. And there is nothing on. That is very disappointing. Oh well, I'll just leave for the book store earlier than I thought, and I may come home later than I thought too.
What are you guys doing today?

2. Yes there is.
My TV sked usually goes like this:

9 a.m. to 10 a.m.---Live with Regis and Kelly
10 a.m. to 11 a.m.---Rachael Ray Show
11 a.m. to noon---Will and Grace on Lifetime
Noon-12:30---Jeopardy on Game Show Network
12:30-1:30----The Young and the Restless

Then I nap for a bit, well I usually fall asleep during Y&R. Then I get up and get ready for work!

:) :hi:

21. I turned out working out ok...
I left at 9:30, went to the book store, had lunch with my husband at 11, and at 12:30 my boss called me to let me know that I had a $250 bonus waiting from the family that owns our company. We are one of the few banks in the country apparently that is actually growing and the profit margin is up 12% beyond expectations. It was an awesome day.
Hope yours was too!!

3. Finishing up a project
for modeling/sculpting class. I have to go in to school for some casting demonstration my teacher is doing at noon. Then I have to pick up my kids from school and bring the girls to horseback riding. That's about it.

The only thing I watch on TV seems to be Showtime/HBO/BBC series and true crime shows like Cold Case Files and The First 48.

5. Have you tried watching Bones?
It is my favorite show, and it's really smart. IT isn't true crime, but it's fun, it's intelligent, and it probes what I'm finding out mirror real crimes.

9. Do you think they will bring Zack back?
I think they are planning to bring him back. Last season, the actor had full plans of going to stage shows and leaving the show. Now, I noticed they have brought him back for a few shows this season. It doesn't look like they recorded his parts last season either, because his hair is longer. BRING BACK ZACK!!! :woohoo: :D

Btw, you can watch Bones and lots of other shows online from what I hear. I'm seriously thinking about making my life a television free existence again and just watching stuff online.

19. He's going to be around as a guest star, I believe.
They can't get him out of jail. He killed people. Even when you're on the good side of some really good, trusted people, that tends to get you locked up in some fashion. I like him, though. Don't get me wrong.
And I am liking the whole Murphy Brown style graduate assistant search. I liked the kid that left, whose entire town paid for him to go to college, and Michael Balducci's stint was entertaining as well. I liked the first kid, though too. I hope they find someone to replace him, though, someone who will fit in well and be some comic relief.
Have you tried reading any of the books? They're a good read but really, the only thing the same is the name Temperance Brennan. I am on book three, and there are like 14,15 in the series so far and Kathy Reichs is a quick writer apparently. It looks as if she does 2 books a year.
Also, here's a fun fact: Did you know, in the series, Temperance writes fiction whose main character's name is Kathy Reichs? I thought it was a nice nod to her creator.

24. Ooooh, you haven't heard yet?
He told Sweets he didn't actually kill anyone, but that he took the blame because he felt responsible for the deaths. That's a whole nother subplot that has been going on since the season started. That's what made me wonder.

27. I actually saw that episode...
However, he told Sweets that he couldn't tell anyone because he was his doctor. If he tells anyone, Zach could go to jail and no one wants that.

4. I sleep during the day (gotta love working nights)....
But there's nothing on at night either. That's why my TV rarely comes on.

I'd probably be better off canceling my satellite, but I don't want to miss out on Journal and Mosaic: News From the Middle East.

If only they both were streaming.....

7. Now that you have seen what is on television during the day,
Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 08:06 AM by Jamastiene
you know why so many people are dumber than shit. I despise daytime television. Come to think of it, I only watch CBS at night any more, except when NBC decides to quit trying to only show shit and self destruct and finally gets around to airing Medium when they damn well please.

We should do away with television and concentrate on the internet. The internet is already better. Television SUCKS!!!* Brain rotters, that's what television sets are. They rot people's brains and cause an epidemic of stupidity. I say television is what caused us to have to endure George "that stupid motherfucker" W. Bush.

We should throw the televisions out the windows. Let's make this weekend "ROCK STAR WEEKEND" where we all live like rock stars, get plastered and trash TVs all over the country. That'd bring MSM down a notch or two in their fucking power trip. Take that, Fux News. x(

Hey, YellowRubberDuckie. I guess I'm just saying, I couldn't agree with you more. :hi:

*Except my little television and VCR/DVD setup in the bathroom. There is nothing like watching an old movie while relaxing in the garden tub. :P

8. We are going out for a ride in the country to buy a few things and
just look at the leaves.
I'm retired. and my TV pretty much goes off after the morning news.

Don't you like infomercials?

( I knew someone whe told me that watching commercials was the "price we must pay to be entertained" by the good TV shows (?), and she believed it was a moral obligation to watch them. She also drank a lot.)

Read more books.

12. That's kinda funny, if you think about it.
Back in the day, they broadcast television, so they needed the commercials to pay for it all. Nowadays, we pay cable or the satellite companies and they still have commercials. Somebody's getting paid twice...I wonder how many people have stopped to think about that.

18. Actually the cable/satelite providers make money on both ends
of the deal, plus millions more - pay per view movies and other events.
There used to be big satelite dishes that enabled a person to just download all transmission directly without a service provider, but they seem to be illegal now.
Read more books. TV has become worse, and it's hardly worth the price.

16. DVDs are your friends
Between a Netflix subscription (where you can order the proven good TV shows and have commercial-free marathons)and a region-free player, which allows me to order from foreign countries via one of the Amazon outlets, all I watch anymore is PBS and a couple of occasional network shows that don't utterly insult my intelligence.

25. My guilty pleasure is HGTV.
I love house porn.

And during lunch (or breakfast, depending on how late I sleep) I watch Who Wants to be a Millionaire because it makes me feel so smart when I make it to the top questions. Sometimes, though, I don't make it to the $300 question -- especially when the questions concern kids' shows or books.

30. In "ye olden days"...
... and I'm not going back THAT far... This is what you had to watch on UK TV:

We had to wait until the early 1980's for breakfast TV, a fourth channel and later on in the 1980's 24 hour programming.

Maybe Test Card F and its accompanying music was more entertaining than todays programmes?

Mark.

As to what I am doing today? Work.

31. Yep.
My days off are during the week. I read a lot, with a news channel on mute in the background in case anything interesting happens. When the weather's nice, I sit in the back yard and read while my dog tries to herd birds. He does a pretty good job, too.
