1. great songs
most of those are great songs. Honestly love you is one of the worst #1s ever. But Paul Anka's seventies reincarnation was an event that should have been stooped at the federal level.

3. All of the above.
I couldn't stand any of them, especially "She's Having My Baby."

5. I like "Kung Fu Fighting" myself...

...but for some reason, it has a stigma attached to it. As such, I thought I'd give those folks who wanted to vote for the song a chance to do so.

6. What about "Muskrat Love?" "Afternoon Delight?"
I vote all of the above, plus a lot more.

Saw Robyn Hitchcock perform "Kung-Fu Fighting" - now, that's a keeper!

8. See the next poll for "Afternoon Delight."

Space limitations kept me from including it in this one. Sorry!

9. A guy in my office has a stuffed gerbil...
...that sings "Kung-Fu Fighting" when you squeeze it or throw it against the wall or whatever you do to that little fucking bastard thing.

This happens several times a day.

For the past two+ years.

I have grown to ABSOLUTELY FUCKING DESPISE that song.

16. Billie and friends
For one Billie Don't Be a Hero is great and actually was a hit twice when it was remade. (I believe it was paper lace, also on this list) For another these songs are far superior to most of the number ones of the 90's. The eighties biggest seller? Let's get physical-Olivia Newton John, that is proof they had their own problems and the 90's were littered with Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, and Miriah Carrey. At least these songs are okay to listen to and some are great as novelties and kitsch. Of course the big point is that number one's for any decade are rarely indicitive of the true growth or impact of music for that time. Mid to late 60's being the closest to an exception. Billie keep your head loooo-oh-oh!

14. That last note of "Lovin' You" that she sings
can warp your mind, curve your spine, lose the war for the allies -- and shatter glass within fifty feet!
