2. Liked his first 2 movies, hated "Lady in the Lake". Heard this is worse
but I like sci-fi type suspense.

27. Awful. No better than a bland made for the Sci-fi channel movie
Sci-fi with no sci-fi. A few people wandering around the fields of Pennsylvania. Wooden acting.

16. lol, stupid me thought Walberg was a decent actor
and he alone could save even an awful Shmayalan movie. Didn't know he'd be a big reason for the suckage.

19. People put way too much emphasis on who is in the movie...
And not enough on who made the movie.

21. But, but but... It's M's first "rated R" movie! How could it not be FABULOUS?
Its a hoot; he keeps making the same kinds of dreary, ponderous, plodding, predictable, BORING movies over and over again and no matter how badly they flop people still give him millions of dollars to another one.

29. In the extras on the "The happening" DVD M. night does on & on about the R rating and
how it would have been NC17 if he didn't cut out this one scene. There are so many
extras on the DVD you'd think he filmed the God Father.

24. That's M. Night Charlatan
:hi:

What kind of pretentious asshat calls himself "M. Night" anyhow? Is his first name "Mid?" And if that is his real name, he should change it.

"I see dead careers..."

26. He doesn't build internally consistent worlds
It applies to the Sixth Sense, which made no internal sense, as the dead man never questioned why people weren't responding to him (and I felt manipulated by the contrivances). Signs was full of holes, with aliens who arrived from across the universe who fought humans with their bare hands on foot and who could be vanquished by water. I think some of his films are beautifully shot and well acted. It's the story line and especially the inconsistent reality in which they are set that really bothers me. Lady In The Water just looked to me like he had to put something together in a hurry to meet some kind of contractual obligation to make another film within a certain schedule.

28. I agree with your comments. Loved "6th sense" and "signs" but saw the same
inconsistencies. Lady in the Water had other consistencies... everyone in the apartment building just accepted, without proof, that they had some kind of supernatural seamaid on their hands. No one talked of calling the police or hospital.

"the happening' was the worst of the lot.

20. OK...I liked it.
So did my dad. But everyone else I know thought it was awful, and I can't really find a good argument.

It had elements that I thought were just pitiful, but I chose to forgive them because it had other elements that I really liked, and I wanted to enjoy the movie.

I also liked Lady in the Water.

If you're curious about it and ready to suspend disbelief and just accept certain things, there is a something worthwhile in the film.

OK, slam away. I'm ready.
