I'm crying so much here.

I had two cats.

My black one Salem, was yowling earlier, I got up a few hours later, and found her on the kitchen floor dead.

I loved her so much.

The vet, based on how I described her as I found her, (she had blood coming from her hind end, said she died from a urinary infection.

That is one of my worst fears, too.. my condolences...

If it helps at all, think of it this way... when a cat passes on, on that same day it's re-incarnated, and another person who really needs that companionship will get him/her and will love them as much as you do....

losing a beloved pet is one of the toughest things any of us go through. I lost two kitties in the past year, and it was completely heart breaking.
We all enjoyed your stories of Salem, and I believe you gave us some photographs as well. She was such as sweet girl, and everyone could easily see that you loved her very much. I'm certain that she was grateful for the care you gave her over the years and loved you much in return.

Grief is the greatest evidence that we have loved, and loved well. For now, you must grieve, but someday-maybe only months from now-you may welcome another "fur child" into your life and bless them with the love and care you gave Salem. I did, I have two kittens racing around the room as I type this. They are not replacements, and I still greatly miss my Peewee and Jasper, but they, too, are loving and beloved.

May you reunite with your beloved Salem on the rainbow bridge someday.Until then, Peace. :hugs:

47. I once missed 3 days of work mourning for a deceased cat...

Her name was Sammy. My wife and I adopted her during our first year of marriage and vowed to raise her like she was our child. We both really loved that little bundle of brindle-black beauty.

She passed away of a wasting infection that the vets couldn't find a way to treat within six months after the birth of our daughter.

It was as if she had served her purpose as our surrogate child and was making way for Alexis.
