I need to be talked down.
OK, what do you do when you run with an idea, take the first steps in making the contacts, offer expertise in getting it going and then get shoved aside...dissed and ignored. I have been pissed about this for over a week now and it's affecting my performance to get things done. I have a huge resentment because I keep getting group emails updating me on this project and I have worn my teeth down into stubs over it.

Aaaarrrrrgh, I wish I could let this go, but it keeps coming up in my face. I hate when I don't get all the attention. Tell me I'm a spoiled brat and I will suck it up and let it go. I trust you guys.
(I must be nuts)

2. Dunno how to help
I'm generally not encouraged to think of new ideas at my job! :-)

3. You should have played hardball with these fuckers.
Let's face it; they screwed you first. Once your proposal was accepted (before that really) you should have cut everyone you could out of the loop, made yourself invaluable. Information is your only weapon/ ally. If everyone has it then you have NOTHING.

I spent the last five years making sure that what I did was invaluable to my company and that I was the only one who knew how to do it. This not only gave me job security but also ensured that I never had to deal with what you are currently struggling with.

I'm no longer with that company which robs me of the benefits I should have seen from helping to build the company up but I at least A. I managed to trade UP salary wise when I CHOSE to leave and B. I have the grim satisfaction of seeing these people scramble to radically alter their business plan to cope with my resignation.

I know it sounds harsh but things are tough and getting tougher. (A LOT tougher as you well know!) And these kids have ZERO compunction about doing to us before we do to them if it means getting ahead.

If it sounds unethical then please consider this: If they don't HAVE to keep you on then they WON'T.

5. Let me offer you some understanding... maybe that will help.
You're feeling betrayed. That's not an easy feeling, and I wonder if you'll have any chance to confront (politely) those people and ask if you could be a part of the endeavor. I wouldn't even say that it was your idea... just assert yourself. At least you're getting emails. Perhaps you can write back offering an idea or two.

As someone who currently is feeling the full effects of being completely betrayed, I sympathize fully.

7. All the attention?
I'd come right out and say it- "Whose idea was this in the first place?"
Are you/will you be getting any credit for it, or just emails?

One of my older brothers had an old "friend" (of 40 years) pull some shit like this. He claimed my bro. was a tightwad and wouldn't use the money he would have made!

8. That sucks
I hate it when something is my idea & I don't get any credit for it. Happens a lot to me too. Sorry, that probably wasn't much help.

11. Go to the person you originally vetted this idea to, or the person in charge of it now,
and tell them what you just told us here, and how upset you are about it.

I don't know what to tell you about wanting all the attention, LOL! I think that just makes you human.

:)

I'm rather an exception to the rule, and prefer to fly under the radar. But the occasional recognition does flatter me, and is very much appreciated.
