55. I think he'll be fine.
He had a blockage on Friday so I took him in, and they kept him over the weekend so they could keep a catheter in and make sure everything was OK. I think the infection wasn't cleared up from last time. Of course the problem will be when I bring him home. It took three weeks of hissing for the others to get over the last disruption. :eyes:

67. UPDATE: Once again I have descended into Cat Hell.
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 01:59 PM by ocelot
A couple of hours ago I discovered that Jeoffry was apparently peeing blood. Great, another cat with a bladder infection. So I haul his fuzzy ass off to the emergency vet clinic (it being Sunday, and these things always happen on weekends). They check him over, give me a bottle of Clavamox and some other stuff, and send us home -- after another $200+ is charged to my credit card.

On arrival back home, the following dialogue occurs, of course:

PIXIE: Hiss.
JEOFFREY: Hiss.
PIXIE: Hiss.
JEOFFRY: Hiss.

And so forth. Since Milo is already at the regular vet's, at least there isn't a third cat to fan the flames. Tomorrow they will get to hiss at him.

Sigh.

35. LOL! I just think it is so funny when pets (Jessie) do things to "get even". LOL!
On the outside, I always properly chastise the inappropriate and/or naughty behavior.

But on the inside, I always chuckle, and admire the "spirit" behind the behavior.

Pets are so honest, and basically innocent and true with their reactions. And I don't feel like I would ever want to clip the wings off a bird, so to speak.

Peggy Sue is curled up in the corner, snoring. Buddy is at the gate outside, barking at the idling car in the driveway across the street. The idling car/barking dog is the nightly ritual here. Teenage girl, sitting with her boyfriend in his car, saying goodnight, and not going in to the house one split second before her Midnight curfew.

26. Mine are happy and content tonight, but yesterday, OMG, I had one very pissed off kitty!
I took all 3 pets, 1 dog, 2 cats, to the vet yesterday, which is a major nightmare in itself. I wanted my dog seen right away for a problem with his eye, and wanted a separate appointment for the cats to update their yearly physical and shots.

Vet is on vacation for the next 2 weeks, so they suggested all 3 at the same time. *groan* I reluctantly agreed, but I knew I could count on my mom to help me. I have one "special needs" cat in particular, that gets absolutely hysterical leaving the house, or meeting strangers.

He howled and wailed and cried from the minute I stuffed his furry little ass into the carrier till we got home. When they took his temp, (as in sticking a thermometer up his asshole), he went totally postal! And unfortunately, he fought so hard the tech had to do it twice to get a good reading.

From now on, I am going to insist he be sedated before an exam. It just upsets him so much. He's okay tonight, but that's after a lot of TLC and comforting since yesterday. He's been practically pasted on me since then, because he was so traumatized. I'm not going to allow him to get that traumatized again.

They need to come up with a better way to take a cat's temperature. Esther didn't like it either, she even shed tears

If they can take a human's temperature through the ears or mouth, why not a cat?

39. With this cat, it wouldn't matter. He was already worked into a frenzy before we got there.
Thus, why I say I'd just prefer he be sedated BEFORE an exam.

The previous vet, before he retired, used to sedate him after the fact, because of the obvious hysteria.

But I just don't think it is necessary for this cat to have to suffer trauma like that in the first place. I KNOW he is an exception, but I don't care. So what? He's happy at home, and that's all that matters.
