Meet our new rescue Border Collie, Celt
We just adopted her today. She was at the rescue for a month and a half, and she's about a year old. She was bought off a farm in Vermont, where she was kept in a 4'x4' pen with her two sisters and mother. Celt came into the rescue starving to death and she's still a big pile of bones. The farmer wouldn't let the rescuers take her, because he wanted to sell them to "working" homes. So they went back and bought all four of them.

She's about the same height as Mick, but weighs 13lbs less, and he's a skinny boy himself.

Celt is just the biggest sweetheart, laying with her head on my lap, as I type this. Mick likes her, but is now off sulking a bit. I think he wants her to go back home now.

3. She is a pretty girl -- her fur is so soft, even though she was so malnourished
She'll have a good life now, although she came from a *really nice* rescue, and she'll get to try out on sheep soon. She has a very good "eye," so we think she'll enjoy herding lessons, too.

9. Thanks!
Her sisters, mom and her would surely be dead now, if it wasn't for her rescuers. Rescuers are truly wonderful people.

10. Thanks!
There will be lots of stuff for her to do around here. Woods to hike in, a lake to swim in, a big dog park, and if she's into it, sheepherding.

11. Things are definitely looking up for her
And despite what she went through, she loves people and is a total snuggler.

We thought Celt would go along nicely with Mick.

13. Mine are both rescued.
I found them in dire circumstances 7 years apart. Actually I always give Teak credit for finding Jordan.

Best dogs in the world.

;)

Which would be Collies, Shelties, Borders, Australian shepherds, German Shepherds, Corgi's etc.

Don't go becoming one of those crazy dog ladies now. :)

17. Beautiful....
My heart just melted....Celt will have a wonderful life with you.
I've been searching for my soul mate for a while...she's out there somewhere.
It's like that feeling of wanting a child, except that I need a canine companion...
I lost my beautiful Maxi so many years ago, and just recently had the urge to have another doggie.

Congratulations! I love the rescue stories.....

:loveya:

peace~

21. I'm sure you'll find the perfect rescue doggie
Celt is now completely sprawled on the couch with her legs hanging off. For a little bit, her and Mick were actually sharing the big bed by the backdoor. It was really cute.

23. She's on a special diet right now while her stomach acclimates itself
The Wellness Sensitive Stomach food with two hard-boiled eggs every day. They said in a few weeks, we can switch her over to EVO, which is what they normally feed their dogs, and what Mick already eats.

26. Thanks -- she had a pretty restful night
She whimpered a bit around 1:00 am, but settled down.

Mick wants to play with her this morning, but she's not quite up to being boisterous quite yet.

The cat saw her for the first time and went,"Oh GREAT -- another one!" And went into The Cat Room. Celt saw the cat and tried to hide in a closet!

31. Mick would tell Jessie "yes," but Celt wouldn't yet
She literally is just learning about toys, and how to play. She had been in that little cage since she was born. She looks at Mick playing with his sheep carcass (ie the fuzzy part left of a destroyed stuffed sheep), and is like,"WTF???"

I have a horrible cold, and am sacked out on the couch while Haruka runs errands. She should be home in about 15 minutes with library books and Kozy Shack rice pudding for me. The MIL and SIL are coming over in a while to meet the newest furkid.

I think it's a ploy sp she can stop making me tea and letting me control the remote.
