DU2's star has dimmed, I’m nostalgic for DU1

I don't know if it's the DLC troops invading (move to the right) or the fact that I’m an IDNY in an increasingly Partisan board.

I’m growing increasingly tired of AOL chat room responses. I raise serious issues about a congressional candidate and instead of a Response with some substance or tackling the serious issues I raised, I get "$%#$% RAWWWWWWWWWKSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!."

I have many people on my ignore list for various reasons triggering nostalgia for the days of DU1. I rarely post anymore, slowly sinking deeper and closer into the shadows of lurkerville.

I don't post as much either.. It's a real drag to spend time thinking, researching, and framing a piece, only to have THIRTEEN posts about the same thing send it off to archiveland.. I am a night owl, so I do my "best work" in the wee hours, and of course morning comes, and then I nap.. Noon or so I check to see if anyone I know is around and if not for the "my posts", I hardly "exist"... :cry:

I don't come here to argue, or fret about stuff we cannot change..

The ignore and hide features have become my salvation, but I do miss the threads with a lot of intelligent input.

Maybe we "oldies" just need to hang in there until after the election..After the "meddlers" get bored, things will probably be back to normal..

The sad thing is that if we DO win, a lot of the people will fade away, thinking that everything will be won..

No matter who wins, we still have some steep hills to climb, and the activism here will still be needed..

We have to get the fairness doctrine back in place
We have to pressure lawmakers to get off their asses and work FOR US, instead of feathering their own nests..

We have to make sure that the "dirty" ones in our ownb party are dealt with..

We are not like the freeps...blind to the abuses of our own.. It's almost worse when your own are corrupt.. We expect the repubes to be dirty underhanded connivers..

This place seems to be withering. I lurked a long time before I started posting here, and it has changed.

This place used to be liberal. Now it is overly-patrisan if you ask me. It doesn't matter what traditional Democratic values are, if Cthulu has a D in front of his name you'll be flamed for stepping out of line when talking about him.

Since I've been at DU for about a year now I'm not a real Democrat? Or is it I'm just not cool enough?

Let me tell you something-I've been in the trenches longer than some people here have been alive. And I take a back seat to no one in my liberal beliefs. Just because you have some posts on a message board is not enough. It's what we do in the real world that counts. The elitism here is, well, amusing.
