The neediness of a 14 year old cat...
This is Merlin this morning:

Paw, paw, paw on Mama...

Talk...chirrup...loud meow...warble---quiet when mama stops to pet me---look deep into Mama's eyes, more chirruping...meow, louder meow...warble, warble warble...

He cracks me up with how vocal he is.

8. Merlin will do that, but, if I get up he'll meow like,"Where are you going?"

There's a lot of him to love, isn't there?

9. He is a very big boy. Most people say, upon meeting him, that
he is the biggest cat they've ever seen. 28 pounds. My father in law fed him well and then we could just never get him to lose it. Plus he is very long. :)

16. Close but no cigar!
A dear friend of mine back East had an even bigger cat. Winston was a couple of shades lighter than an orange tabby, and he weighed in at the vet's at 32 lbs. Wait, it gets better! He was at the vet's because he'd had persistent diarrhea for a couple of days. So we were thinking his normal (?) weight would have been closer to 35 lbs.

It gets even better! Winston's favorite foods? Turkey, and broccoli! Yes, broccoli! Plus, for such a big cat, he had a really high-pitched, piping half-meow. Go figure.

3. You think a 14yo cat is bad? Try a 20yo cat
He's a sweetheart, but also a little needy.

5. My sister's cat is 18... and not only needy
but going deaf.... so she talks about 3 times louder than she used to because she can't hear herself.

It's driving my sister nuts.

11. Oh boy.
Merlin is just loud. :) It's funny how chatty they get as they age.

18. my old calico went deaf and I didn't figure it out for a long time
She would get "lost" in our apartment and start yowling and yowling until I came to get her. I didn't consider her being deaf for a long time; just thought she was getting senile.

7. I've got one of those!
He's 15 1/2 and just discovered in the last 3 months how to paw-paw my leg for attention. He's always been vocal, but now vocalizes every time I look at him or say his name. I adore him...

I dread the the day I lose him. He lays his head on my shoulder when I hold him and purrs. Makes my heart melt.

12. They get so mellow and sweet as they age.
That's what Merlin has done.

13. I've got one of those too.
He's not very vocal, but he loves to be held and carried around the house. He learned as a little kitten that pawing at my leg will prompt me to pick him up. He wants to be held upside down, like a little baby, and purrs and purrs and kneads on my face and chest and stares at me with his enormous eyes. He doesn't care if I'm brushing my teeth or whatever - if he decides it's time to be carried around, he paws and paws and looks at me with this hopeful appealing expression until I pick him up and love on him.

15. Neediness is not necessarily an older cat thing
My two year old kitties are both the same way...Hell one of them Sophie will climb up to the top of my pillow while in bed and bat me on the top of the head and sometimes she uses her claws and literally brushes my hair! If neediness increases with age I'm in big trouble with my two girls...:scared:

17. My 14 yo chirper likes to paw the wall of the tub and try to talk the faucet into dripping more. Of
course, he knows it will drip more because bleary-eyed mama will stagger out of bed and make it go just to quiet him down. :P

19. Ha. You want to talk about needy? I'll show you needy.
When Milo feels ignored, he will emit little squeaks and then hurl his fifteen furry pounds at my torso, forcing me to hold him and cuddle him.
