Somebody left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

Take THAT!

where they performed "McArthur Park". About halfway through, the lead trumpet player stood up, slapped his forehead, yelled, "Oh, fuck! The cake!", and ran for the exit. True story.

7. OH it gets worse my friend
Terry Gross on Fresh Air interviewed the guy for an hour! I forget his name, but he's written other things....but he considers this his masterpiece.

IN all honesty...I didn't think the song was that bad...just an example of goofy 60's lyrics. When Dylan, Van Dyke Parks and Lennon were being deep, lots of hack songwriters thought they were just writing nonsense and so they tried it, thinking they were on par with Lennon and Dylan.
