Wintertime Depression
It has been gray, dreary, rainy, cold, awful, depressing, and bleak for DAYS.

:grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

The weathermen (yes, they're all MEN around here) keep promising snow. Not that I'd like snow, but at least it would be much less depressing than this shit.

On CNN.com, it says the forecast for today is snow.

Not one flake.

:argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh:

But why did I believe them? They're all fucking liars!! They got my hopes up on purpose that there'd be relief in sight!! But NOOOOOOO!! No snow! Just gray, dreary, drizzling, bleak, awful RAIN!! And cold!!

Spring is never coming back, is it? I keep remembering the Witch in that C.S. Lewis book who made it always winter and never spring or Christmas. That's what whistle-ass has done, isn't it?

Spring is gone forever. It's never going to get any warmer. My shoelaces will always be sopping wet at the end of the day because they won't stay tied and there's always going to be puddles for them to drag through because it's never going to stop raining and the sun won't come out tomorrow and I want to curl up and die!!!

I've got a light therapy box, and I've been in front of it 4-6 hours a day for two weeks. It helps (I've not slashed my wrists yet) but it's not a solution. The only solution is Spring, which is gone!! Whistle-ass has frozen us in time so it'll never be November and he'll be pResident until he dies!!

Somebody, anybody, PLEASE put me out of my misery.

P.S. I don't drink, so don't suggest that, please. Believe it or not, if I were drinking right now I'd be ten times more depressed.

P.P.S. And Malloy's gone, too!!

1. alas
I feel your pain. At this time of year I get the feeling that spring will never come. I have 48 winters under my belt and the day I pull up stakes and move away to a warmer climate will be the happiest day of my life. I fuckin hate winter, there I said it, I feel a little better now.

3. I don't like winter either
I'd much prefer the heat of the summer and the sunny days than what we've got going on around here. Where are you at? I live in Ohio. I guess I can be thankful that we haven't had too rough of a winter here. It got seriously cold last month, but we've only had one major snow storm.

Don't worry. Spring is just around the corner and things will be looking up for you soon.

8. Now now. You must live in Georgia
because that's what the weather has been like for weeks! But guess what? Spring training has started in Florida. The Oscars are coming up not to mention the Final Four. In NW Atlanta they are predicting highs in the 60s. So buck up! Please.

11. Oh hell...get a grip
you know how the South is...February and the first couple of weeks in March suck the big one.

Sunday is supposed to be gorgeous.

You sound like you need a good trip to the Waffle House more than anything. A cuppa that good WH coffee will perk you right up!

Wanna smile? Snowed like hell here today...worse up north (I am in Charlotte, NC) and Michael is on his way here from Sarasota, FL so we can MOVE this weekend.

Yeah. MOVE. In this shit.

Yay doggie.

12. The only depressing thing about winter to me is that it ends
I've been depressed for the last couple weeks, knowing that Spring will soon be around the corner, and then summer. Yuck.

And winter came so late this year, and seems to be ending much too early.

Now it gets light too early, and the sun stays out too long.

Give me 6 months of bracing cold snowy winter, with maybe two weeks of really warm weather, and the rest of the time a coolish, rainy/dampy temp. that's good for eating outside, but doesn't show so much sun.

13. WOW.
You would be so, so, so, so, so, so happy here.

I have a second floor apartment with a glorious view of gray, dreary SHIT.

You'd be thrilled!

Do you live in CA or FL? Want to trade living spaces for awhile?

Where do you live?

I'm in NYC.

Winters just aren't cold here. I do often miss WI, where we had real cold, and real snow.

ah, I see you're in Alabama.

No, I could never live in the south. Too hot, too humid, too... I don't know, I just don't like the south. Mostly cuz the heat and humidity.

Southwest I can deal with - heat without humidity in Arizona is like heaven. And I really was never bothered by the constant warm weather when I lived in Hawaii, because at least it was PERFECT every day and evening. Really - just perfect. I could live with that again, as well.

I live in Upstate NY, one block from Lake Ontario. Most of the snow banks alongside the roads here are higher than the top of my Subaru Forester.

20. YAY!!
That's what I call proper weather!

Oh, how I miss it. NYC has it's cold days, but it's not the same depth of cold, nor as continuous, as I prefer.

23. HA HA HA!
When I was a kid, I did most of the shoveling; 8 years old, with an old shitty shovel, having to clear the driveway before my parents came home from work...sometimes, if the snow was in the multiple feet, I'd shovel a path for their tires into the garage, and then work on the rest.

And I was just a kid!

HA HA! No snowblower for me, either!

16. southerngirlwriter, it can't be too bad in the south!
But I hate winter myself, especially February. Someone once said it is the shortest month because no one could stand to have it last any longer!

Spring is coming!

(At my age, everything comes faster!)

18. How old are you?
I want to hurry up and get there. Sounds nice.

Here we get about six hours of my favorite weather -- bright and chilly, leaves changing, glorious fall -- and then we get dreary, rainy, drizzly, gray, bleak, horrifying SHIT weather for MONTHS.

Then we get two weeks of Spring.

Then we get four months of 110% humidity, 105 degrees in the shade.

Then six hours of fall.

Then MONTHS of the shit.

It never ends.

24. I'm 48. Just moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania. I love Maryland
it has nice seasonal changes. But I lived near Washington, DC, which is classified as a sub=tropical climate (and is why Congress always left for the summers...not only uncomfortable, but was a serious health hazard for oh a hundred years or so...mosquitos and diseases in canals..) So I understand humidity!! Also I went to New Orleans when I was 12 years old....in JULY! Bad timing.

:argh: :argh: :argh: :argh:

Don't worry for this is the last week of February and March will soon be on the way.

On edit at least you should cheer up on this point, the asshole in chief at least hadn't found a way to put us all in a bad "Groundhog Day" type movie, except that he would fix it so that every blasted day was SEPTEMBER THE 11TH instead, even though he would like to.
