So what music is DU listening to right now?
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 08:48 PM by Bluzmann57
Me, I have Omar and the Howlers in the cd player right now. "Southern Style". Omar is a kick ass Austin based musician originally from McComb, Mississippi. Home of the late great Bo Diddley and his influence is apparent in Omar's music. Next up- Eric Gales, "That's what I am".
Edited because misspellings irritate me. So now it's correct.

6. I think that one's still being debated.
Now if you were listening to Load, we'd have problems.

13. I think Death Magnetic is a fine album.
I'd rank it as their 4th best album, below Puppets, Kill 'Em All, and Lightning, and ahead of the Black Album and Justice.

15. Metallica is a talented band
And if you are a hard rock/metal fan, then enjoy the music. Even if you aren't a fan of the genre, open up your mind and listen! I actually have a Metallica cd, the one with "Enter Sandman" on it. Good stuff.

Also has "Sad But True"...."Nothing Else Matters"...."Anywhere I Roam"....the whole album rocks.

'Tis my favorite. :)

26. I listened to that album once all the way through;
as a long time Metallica fan, I picked it up the day it came out. I drove about until it was finished, popped it out of the tape deck, and chucked it out the window. Utter commercial shit, the exact opposite of the Metallica that I grew to respect in my early metalhead years. It took 17 years since then for them to earn my respect back.

22. I think they are very good as well
And this new album is the best one they've made since before their self-titled album from 1991- the one that has "Enter Sandman" on it.

Yeah, I've been a metal fan since I was 15 and I listen to all kinds of metal bands from Black Sabbath to Dimmu Borgir to Trivium. I guess some metal fans are torn about the new Metallica, but the consensus seems to be that it's their best effort since the 80s.

23. OK, as a Metallica hater I must say I've enjoyed Death Magnetic.
Yeah sure what they did to Napster is absolutely unforgivable but I heard the first track on the radio and really enjoyed it. Glad I didn't pay more than $10 for it though.

24. A lot of people dislike them for that
All that Napster stuff never really bothered me. What did bother me about Metallica was their obvious sell-out in the 90s, and this is the first Metallica album I've purchased since 1991. I paid $10 for my copy as well. :)

11. Hey Sandy Girl ~ The Hollies
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 08:40 PM by Tuesday Afternoon
http://www.youtube.com/v/6qQaqVrlli0&hl=en&fs=1

Sandy the aurora is risin' behind us
Those pier lights our carnival life forever
Oh love me tonight for I may never see you again
Hey Sandy girl my baby

Sandy the fireworks are hailin' over Little Eden tonight
Forcin' a light into all those stony faces
left stranded on this warm July
And the boys from the casino dance with their shirts
open like Latin lovers on the shore
Chasin' all those silly New York virgins by the score

Sandy the aurora is risin' behind us
Those pier lights our carnival life forever
Oh love me tonight and I promise I'll love you forever
Oh I mean it Sandy girl Oh my baby
Hey Sandy girl My baby

Sandy the waitress I was seein' lost her desire for me
I spoke with her last night she said she won't
set herself on fire for me anymore
Did you hear the cops finally busted Madame Marie for
tellin' fortunes better than they do
For me this boardwalk life is through You
ought to quit this scene too

Hey Sandy girl Oh my baby
Hey Sandy girl My baby

27. The Sickbed of Cuchelainn, by the Pogues...
McCormack and Richard Tauber are singing by the bed
There's a glass of punch below your feet and an angel at your head
There's devils on each side of you with bottles in their hands
You need one more drop of poison and you'll dream of foreign lands

When you pissed yourself in Frankfurt and got syph. down in Cologne
And you heard the rattling death trains as you lay there all alone
Frank Ryan brought you whiskey in a brothel in Madrid
And you decked some fucking blackshirt who was cursing all the Yids
At the sick bed of Cuchulainn we'll kneel and say a prayer
And the ghosts are rattling at the door and the devil's in the chair

And in the Euston Tavern you screamed it was your shout
But they wouldn't give you service so you kicked the windows out
They took you out into the street and kicked you in the brains
So you walked back in through a bolted door and did it all again
At the sick bed of Cuchulainn we'll kneel and say a prayer
And the ghosts are rattling at the door and the devil's in the chair

You remember that foul evening when you heard the banshees howl
There was lousy drunken bastards singing ‘Billy is in the bowl’
They took you up to midnight mass and left you in the lurch
So you dropped a button in the plate and spewed up in the church

Now you'll sing a song of liberty for blacks and paks and jocks
And they'll take you from this dump you're in and stick you in a box
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior and shove you in the ground
But you'll stick your head back out and shout "we'll have another round"
At the graveside of Cuchulainn we'll kneel around and pray
And God is in His heaven, and Billy's down by the bay
