Things I don't understand
I don't understand why people RSVP 'yes' for a business event, then don't show up.

I don't understand how someone can miss a clearly defined deadline, then expect their input, ideas, etc. to be accepted anyway.

I don't understand how someone can get two reminders a week, for five weeks, about an important meeting then let you know on the day of the meeting that they can't be there.

I don't understand how someone can be told point-blank that a meeting is mandatory and still skip it with no explanation.

I don't understand how someone can forget about a meeting they have been reminded of for five weeks or more.

I don't understand how someone will commit to a project and then not follow through even with constant reminders, leaving someone else (me) to pull it together at the last minute.

And I *really* don't understand why this only seems to bother me.

1. Because
we are last on most people's listsof priorities. I don't know why this is so. Just that it seems to be. I have noticed by the amount of times people fail me, and on the few occasions when I complain about it I usually get shouted at because I don't understand all the other things they have on their plates which are far more important than me.

3. It is because
they can count on you to pull it all together at the last minute.

Let THEM fall flat on their arses and see what happens.

I get annoyed too when people do not stick to their obligations after being reminded many times.

6. Well, that's the problem, I can't
It involves significant amounts of revenue that we MUST get. I just don't know why someone commits to something they know they can't do.

If they would just be honest up front and say they can't do it, I have time to come up with an alternate plan. But now it's too late, this stuff needs to be presented tonight.

10. I know, it's my own fault
Silly me for wanting people to do their jobs....when will I learn?

Nice to have you back! How did you like Downtown Disney? I hated it but then I was slogging around it in July heat trying to find decent souvenirs for non-Disney types.

11. Clearly, you need to call a meeting
Call a meeting immediately to discuss the subject of the missing of meetings.

Oh, and serve a nice snack.
