Eating kangaroos could help fight global warming

Eating kangaroos could help fight global warming

SYDNEY (AFP) - An offbeat suggestion that Australians should eat kangaroos instead of cattle and sheep has been given a scientific stamp of approval by the government's top climate change adviser.

The belching and farting of millions of farm animals is a major contributor to Australia's greenhouse gas emissions, Professor Ross Garnaut noted in a major report to the government on global warming.

Kangaroos, on the other hand, emit negligible amounts of methane gas...http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/australiaclimatefoodkangaroosoffbeat

All together now:

9. Roo Bars
A lot of cars have a roo bar installed up front, since kangaroos tend to smash cars often. I certainly swerved around plenty of dead roos on the roadside during my pedal up the coast.

For some reason I was never tempted to eat one of them.

12. But what would happen to all the cows?
If everyone all of a sudden stopped eating cattle and sheep and started eating kangaroos, what ever would we do with all the cows and sheep?

Sound like a familiar argument, anyone? ;)

13. Eat them up! Then start raising bison!
Takes the place of both cattle AND sheep!

:7

Seriously though, bison yarn (aka bison wool) is good stuff.
And I will admit a fondness for bison meat.

14. Bison yarn?
So now you're suggesting that bison can knit? That's just foolish.

16. Ok, so they have a tendency to make sweaters with four arms
but that gives you choices for which arm hole to use!

More choices is good!

18. or people could, you know....
.... eat a more moderate and reasonable amount of meat, or just cut it out of their diets entirely if they chose.

I know, it's crazy talk.
