4. Overrated how?
Be terribly specific.

Don't let the 2007 sweep of your Angels influence what you say, k?

8. By the announcers, recently.
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 12:43 AM by EOO
They said he "dominated" against the Angels this season. Oh yeah? How does one fucking apperance in 9 games qualify as "dominance"? Are they rewriting terminology like John McCain now?

Oh oh oh and let's not count his disastrous appearance at Yankee Stadium which sent the All Star game into 15 innings, right?

11. Let me quote you.
"Overrated pretty boy."

So again, you have...nothing, yes?

Probably still a little sore after last year. You know...the sweep.

Your Angels are a great team. One I'd toast to after a loss because of how good they are.

You...just being a shit.

13. Your "hatred"?
"Your Angels are a great team. One I'd toast to after a loss because of how good they are."

That's a quote from me. You have hatred towards me after that? Great. Go fuck youself, douchebag.

Try to be civil and kind and see what happens from morons. Pity that.

14. I'm not saying you were, but Red Sox fans in general.
I understand 86 years of built-up world series frustration (see: Cubs fans). But if Red Sox fans in general would stop acting like dip shits then maybe I might respect the team more. At least the Yankees fans have a little class (not much). But I've never been to an Angels - Red Sox game, at least since 2004, where I haven't thought that I was going to get the shit beat out of me at least six times before the game ends just because I didnt root for the Red Sox. So just think about that.

15. Let's try again.
Here's my quote:

"Your Angels are a great team. One I'd toast to after a loss because of how good they are."

And BTW, our frustration with your team exited the building after sweeping your Angels and winning the Series.

So shut up.

Don't generalize me, and don't call the best fucking closer in the game a fucking "prettyboy".

Savvy?

If your team wins the next one, I'll be the first to say how they deserved it, how great they played. How I look forward to the next game.

Guess that may be the difference between Red Sox Nation and the...whatever the Hell you have out there.

Have a nice fucking day.

16. OK, yes, I respect your opinion.
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 01:31 AM by EOO
And yeah I know I was generalizing but take a look around. I know a lot of Red Sox fans know the game and have respect for other teams, but I have to deal with west coast Red Sox fans and most of them probably did not care about the Sox before 2004.

And yes I probably overstepped the line when I said that he was an "overrated pretty boy". Guess I'm just not happy with the outcome of the game, that's all. I do have respect for the Red Sox after that comeback in 2004, though. Anyone who can come back from 2 outs from elimination and beat the Yankees for four straight games like that is OK in my book.

17. Good. So we can agree:
1. The Angels and the Red Sox are fantastic teams deserving to be in the playoffs, so to speak;

2. Some Sox fans suck, as do, honestly some Angels fans. That's how it will always be with sports, I think;

3. Papelbon is an epic pitcher, and not an "overrated pretty boy" but an extremely talented closer;

4. The outcome of this game is just that. The outcome of one game. The Sox won tonight, and that may well change on the next go-'round.

5. If the next game goes in favor of the Angels, I expect you or another Angels fan to post a thread in which I will state that you played a fantastic game. BUT, I won't shit on your team or the players (read this as not calling anyone a "prettyboy"). I expect the same in return. Savvy?

Look, I have my team. If your folks win the whole thing, honestly, I'd be thrilled to death. They have played top quality ball all year. It's not about "my" team, but about baseball.

And if the Rays win it, first beer is on me.

20. Yeah sorry, I did not mean to shit on the Sox players.
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 02:17 AM by EOO
It's just that I've seen this scenario before and know how it ends... I hope it has a different outcome this time.

And hey, I'd be all for the Rays winning this thing. I have a lot of respect for Joe Maddon, being that he is a great manager, and a former Angel and all.

24. A lot of fans are, no matter which team.
I just wish some fans could take a little constructive criticism. I mean if you guys had said the same thing about K-Rod, I probably would have agreed. With Papelbon it's pretty much an open and shut case. With K-Rod you never know which way the game's going to go.

25. I think you'll find that most sports fans (from every team)
are perfectly fine.

There's always the 10% 0r 15% that just suck, and when it's not your team you tend to notice them more.

Pabelbon IS one of the best closers in the game... at least that's what MLB said when I was watching the recap on their website this morning.

Is he perfect? Nope.

I knew only one perfect person that walked the earth.... and I don't recall that he played baseball.

He had the highest stolen base percentage in the Judean League that year. It always seemed like He would just instantaneously appear on second base...

On second thought, what looked to be a totally floaty hearts thread on a topic I could care less about turned out to be surprisingly popcorn worthy, and is sucessfully distracting me from the presentation I'm preparing. While in the long run that's probably not a good thing, it'll do for now. Good job! :thumbsup:

I really do have to finish the damned write-up on this journal article though.
