...House to car to garage to office etc etc...

Plus I don't have to wear coat and tie 'cause our company in biz casual.

Plus in downtown Houston there's an air conditioned tunnel system that connects most of the buildings in the central downtown area...pretty cool!

I remember staying in New Orleans at some hotel a block from the convention center and everyone was taking cabs and I'm like..."WTF? I'll just walk it." After one block, my shirt was over. So do you like Houston overall? Just seems like a different world than Westwood.

15. Wendy's
I really enjoy their burgers, probably because they taste like the burgers that my grandmother made for me when I was little.
I do like Hardee's new thickburgers. I have only had them a few times though since the Hardees in our little town closed before they made their menu change.
I usually like Whoppers from Burger King but they seem to raise my blood pressure for some strange reason.
I don't like McDonald's burgers. I have had a strong dislkie for them since I have been a young child, choosing chicken mcnuggets for my happy meal.
In Wisconsin, we have Culver's. Their burgers are pretty good, but greasier than most other places.

the name means roughly "country boy", the burgers are fresh-made, you get to choose your toppings, and now there's one right in town near the Ward theatres for those of us who are dumb enough to only go to the North SHore (famous surf spots and cool hip small town shopping) only once or twice a year.

75. I don't think you'll find any town. . .
that doesn't have at least one local joint that beats the big chains cold. Here in Calgary, it's Peters' Drive-In, Burger Inn, and Joey's. In my humble opinion.

Of the chains, however, Wendy's wins easily. Classic double, no cheese, extra onions, bacon. Mmmmmm. And to hell with the fries, it's either a baked potato or side salad for me.

82. The Whopper trumps all
I've sampled virtually every joint mentioned, more than I care to admit.

I'll detour for months at a time, but whenever I return to Burger King it's one-bite verification there is nothing even close to the allmighty Whopper of my Miami youth. I love thin burgers, not squishy crap, and the Whopper has an ideal amount and variety of toppings.

McDonald's is the only one I avoid at any cost, even death by starvation.

Tommy's was my college chiliburger hangout, post midnight with an aftertaste guaranteed to last a week. I was reminiscing about Tommy's treks tonight, during the debate from USC.

Wendy's is probably the best overall. I crave a chocolate Frostee right now! But I'm boycotting Wendy's again due to their relentless placement of hideous cheese on virtually every burger, even if I beg them not to. This has been an ongoing outrage for more than a decade. Finally I complained to the corporate headquarters and was deluged with phone calls and freebies. The local Wendy's manager conceded her young staff dumps cheese on almost every burger, considering it a bonus to provide cheese if someone ordered without.

83. The Apple Pan in West Los Angeles -- "Quality Forever"

10801 W. Pico Blvd.
Los Angeles, California

A Los Angeles institution; the counter is likely to be busy any time of the day or night you go there.

The Hickory burger and french fries (ask for Hickory sauce instead of ketchup) are sublime, and if you order coffee they give you real cream!

Ir's counter service only. The original Steakburger seems to have been served first in 1927 and it hasn't changed since. The toy building has stood its ground against mall development since 1947, and it still has its wood panelling, stools, u-shaped counter, friendly staff, and paper wrappers to hold your Steakburger.

I have fond memories of meeting up with the "gang" after a date or after a late night shift and throwing down a box of slammers in the parking lot. Usually about 2 or 3 in the morning. Warm florida nights...just great memories.
