Okay, so I was supposed to leave for work 10 minutes ago.
Unfortunately, right as I was walking towards my car, a herd of people suddenly walked in front of my driveway. And there was a sound of drums.

Apparently this weekend is homecoming for the local high school. Nobody thought to bother putting up signs or anything or warning the people who live along the route. They just expected that it's a small town and everybody knew.

So now I can't get to work. Because I can't leave my goddamned driveway.

1. Walk to work, slacker.

2. In all seriousness, it would be quicker to wait for the parade to end and drive
than to walk. Since it's a good 20-25 minute drive to work. And that's on back roads where you can get up to 75 as long as there's no traffic.

3. I guessed that you didn't have a practical option to walk.
Just trying to inject a little humor into your frustrating situation. I've been trapped by unannounced street closures courtesy of public works, police activities and twice because of Secret Service route shutdowns (once for the VP, once for Al Gore) but never for a parade!

4. The annoying part is... the people most likely to not have a normal M-F 9-5 job...
are the same ones who are less likely to have kids in school. Which means the people they inconvenienced were the ones who had no way of finding out about the damn parade.

The other annoying part... had I left 30 seconds earlier I woulda been fine. I was literally walking to my car when the first group of people walked in front of my house. D'oh.

5. Similar thing happened to me. Except, I couldn't get home from a hosp visit
because of the parade. So, I went to the nursing home. Bitching and moaning all the way!

I feel ya!

8. Everyone loves a parade...
... unless you're trying to actually go somewhere.

6. Why do you hate cheerleaders?

7. If I hated cheerleaders I would have gotten to work on time.
... although I might have had to wash my car afterwards.
