1. Absolutely agree. McCain needs to be regarded as the corporate fascist he is.

2. Naw, it's cool.
While McCain was mouthing empty phrases about bipartisanship over and over, Obama was actually finding specific common ground.

Not much, but some. I think he showed up his opponent nicely, and when it was time to bust out McWrong, our man did the job.

4. After reading a lot of the commentary on the debate as well as listening to the
pundits, I have this theory.

Obama didn't really come out swinging tonight. I mean, he did well, obviously, but he didn't wipe the floor with McCain. I think that was the strategy. Sort of testing the waters.

Next debate, I predict McSame will be drooling and almost crying at how Obama wipes the floor with him.

Just a thought.

6. I think you could be right. It makes sense to let McCain be as strong as possible
in the only area where he CAN be strong. Since expectations were SO lowered before this debate for McCain, now they won't be for the next one, and Obama can take it away, in areas where McCain is NOT so strong.

I like the theory.

7. I like your theory.
Hey, last night was supposed to be McCain's night. And yet, I'm seeing the perception that Obama won last night. He was calm, cool, collected. We saw Barack Obama on that stage last night and he was Presidential.

I disagree with the idea that Obama should have ripped McCain to shreds. I think you're right...he was testing the waters. And still he is widely perceived to have won. I'm really sort of shocked that CNN called Obama the winner.

Obama now knows what to expect. And in the next debate, about domestic policy, Obama WILL wipe the floor with John McCain. And as a desperate McCain struggles to get an advantage, you'll see the anger more in the next debate. And as we saw last night, it was NOT pretty to watch.

5. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Obama's comments concerning the few things McCain is right about merely highlighted the enormous universe of stuff he is so very very wrong about Of course, even the stuff he was right about, he was right for the wrong reasons (and probably by accident).

My transcript of the debate runs something like this:

Obama: A reasoned and measured statement, showing an understanding of the issues and clear goals for dealing with them.
McCain: Yah boo sucks! So's your mama! Pfffffthhh!
Obama: Another enlightening statement about key issues of national security and foreign policy.
McCain: And she wears Army boots! Which reminds me, did you know I was a POW? I've got a dead soldier's bracelet on. Nyah nayh!

And so on for two hours.

Of course, McCain hasn't made it into the digital age yet, so...

understanding of the obvious, such as that Al Qaeda is a threat or that we are in an economic crisis. He was building strawman after strawman after strawman. Obama was FORCED to agree. Anyone would have to or they'd look like a fool.
