I'm officially unemployed. *help?*
I haven't had to job hunt in 20 years. I have enough in savings to keep the bill collectors at bay for a few months (no car, no rent, thank the omnipotent beings), but *EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

My boss has been having a really tight time with the finances lately and someone bounced a check on him, which in turn led to several of *his* checks bouncing (with fees, of course) which put him trouble with his bank. Until he gets everything resolved and paid up, I'm out of work. That could take awhile, he told me to try for unemployment and if I had any trouble with that he'd do what he could to help. Now to start hunting for jobs (the local mall has some "now hiring" signs in some of the shop windows). *gah*

My stomach hurts.

I'm hungry but I don't want to eat.

...and I think I'm catching a cold.

*sigh*

1. First things first, file a claim with unemployment immediately.
Some states have online filing, that makes it easier.

Then, Par-tay!!

2. Thanks!
My state does have online filing. I just have to dig out my paperwork for all the stuff they want to know...:scared: *doesn't like filling out forms*

I liked my job...I don't want a new one!

3. Maybe you could run a collection racket, getting your boss's money back.
Kidding.........but I do hope you can find something to tide you over until your boss clears this all up.

4. Thanks! (pauses to seriously consider that option...)
Tempting, so tempting...but I don't think anyone would take me seriously as an "enforcer". They might laugh themselves to death at the notion though, then I could go through their pockets and stuff...(kidding, mostly...:)).

If I can at least get enough unemployment to cover my one large bill of the month I can stretch my savings out to last six months, maybe a little more. *urgh* I have to find another job...*does not handle sudden change well*

Thank You!

5. Not sure where you're at in Oregon, but Craigslist has listings in
bend
corvallis/albany
east oregon
eugene
medford-ashland-klamath
oregon coast
portland
roseburg
salem

Just type 'Craigslist' and your nearest city into a Google search and see what's listed in your area.

7. I'm not sure what your previous pay was
But it isn't worth it to take a job that pays much less than you previously made at your job. I am not sure exactly how they determine your benefit, but if you were making enough to earn the maximum benefit, it is not worth it to take a $7.00/hour job.
Usually you are required to be actively looking for work. The jobs you should be applying to, especially at first, should be equivalent to your previous position in pay.
