They don't get it and never will. Screw them.

1. The group of Americans who seriously believe that
education is 'elitist', ie the Palinites :eyes: will always think that.

It's sour grapes. Palin's comments to Couric about her not traveling because of her family 'not giving her that opportunity' reeks of the jealous.

And, as far as intellectural curiousity? None. Zip. Nada. Zero.

It's actually quite sad.

4. Oh believe me, you are preaching to the choir.
I have such disdain for the intellectually non inquisitive, it's almost palpable. My son always says 'Mom hates stupid people'. Not really, I despise the intellectually lazy.

I mean, FFS, people, read a fucking book. Travel somewhere. Expand your horizons just a little bit.

6. Those ignorant assholes don't get it and never will. Unfortunately they have the right to vote.
Too bad abortion is not retroactive.

:puke: The kids are embarrassed by it (because they got their brains from mama)

5. It's okay, though.
I agree with you, but remember that these same dumb-fucks only hear soundbytes and will vote according to ads. Obama is totally trashing McAnus in the ad department.

9. Obama was, according to undecideds and independents, the winner tonight.
And by fairly substantial margins, by and large.

But I do agree that there's an almost gleeful anti-intellectualism that has a hold of this country.

13. I call it the "American Idol" effect.
AI is the perfect narcissistic mirror for millions of people who revel in the fact that somebody *just like them* can rise from obscurity to superstardom.

That's fine for a TV show, but when they apply the same logic to presidential candidates, we all take the hit.

21. I can't wait for this philosophy to trickle down to other professions.
If anyone can be President, regardless of qualifications or aptitude, then why not doctors or airline pilots? I mean, who do the AMA and FAA think they are, standing in the way of ordinary Americans who want to "live the dream" of saving lives or flying a plane? Why should folks have to spend years in boring school before they're allowed to do the cool stuff? It's my God-given right as an American to be whatever I want to be (without having to get off my ass to do it, of course). People should be free to do what they want, right? So open the doors of all those elitist professions to decent everyday folks!

I can't wait to pilot the Space Shuttle. It will be sooooo cool!

15. It's not just Obama that is too cerebral for them.
A discussion between Terence McNally and Susan Jacoby, author of "The Age of American Unreason", on the misuse of the word "elite" and how--and why--Boobus Americanus is dragging the country into the intellectual toilet. Paradoxically, the Internet has helped foster stupidity by making it so accessible and, for the gullible, plausible.

16. I think it's a symptom of an empire in decline
The citizens have become decadent and do not take their responsibilities seriously. They start voting for leaders on the basis of 'who they would like to have a beer with', as if this had anything to do with fitness for office. It is frivolous and unserious.

If America wants to save itself, cut the military budget. What's with all those military bases around the world? This empire is going to bankrupt you. Pull back and scale down.

20. I know this will never play well in Peoria, but I wish
that there was some sort of regulatory agency that oversaw what passes for 'news' these days.

Fox would fold like an origami stork.

I honestly think it would help this country if people could actually get 'fair and balanced' news. Not what essentially passes for informercials for the right wing.
