Can I do mean things to my husband?
About a week ago, he unilaterally decided to turn the A/C off. Mind you, it has been getting up to 95° every day. And we have a clay tile roof, so it has been absolutely sweltering in the house. I thought it was because the A/C was broken. So I went and looked at the thermostat, and the damned A/C was off.

I am so pissed. I have not been able to sleep at night because it is so hot in our house. I told him that turning off the A/C was not a decision he could make unilaterally anymore.

1. That is a hanging offense around my house...
touch the thermostat without negotiating a mutually agreeable temp. first and die!

3. I had to explain to him that it takes more energy to COOL the house when it is hot
than it does to actually keep it static when it is already cool.

Hi back to R.

13. Isn't that what husbands are for?
One of the things I hate most about not being the sole decider in my house is that I don't get to control the thermostat and I have the only bedroom that doesn't have a cross breeze. I think I wake up in the morning weighing about 5 lb less than when I go to sleep. The ultimate irony is that my room faces west so in the winter I get the brunt of the cold wind and feel like I'm sleeping in a meat locker.

Pissing off the wife, especially around bedtime...not terribly bright.

So, yes (to answer your question).

you have every right to consider evil things for that one. And let him stew in the possibilities for a night or two.

25. So, here's what you do.
Put a heating pad under the sheets on his side of the bed. Arbitrarily turn it up and down and see how he likes it. I bet he gets hot and turns the AC back on.

28. While that was mean of him, in the future speak up
If I am too hot or cold to an extent that it makes me uncomfortable consistantly, I complain to my husband about it. Then I say that perhaps we should turn on the air conditioner or heater (depending on the sitution) or adjust the thermostat. We have a geriatric dog who is more heat sensitive than I am so sometimes I reference the dog in why we need to turn on the air conditioning.

31. I would actually prefer to be a passive aggressive bitch about it.
:eyes:

Of course I spoke up. I also turned the A/C back on. I had no idea that he had turned it off. The fact that I had no idea he turned it off was the point of what I was upset about. Yes, I prefer to be direct in communication, and it is frustrating to be not apprised of the thermostat situation.

If you did not like this thread, why the hell did you bother posting in it.

Only because sometimes (after 14 years of marriage) I actually do prefer to be a passive aggressive bitch, it takes so much less effort;)

Next, pay him back when he LEAST expects it. That's the BEST way to get revenge.

If you need to compare notes for the best pranks to pay him back, drop me a PM and I'll help. I'll try not to be too incredibly vindictive. I'll hold back in my suggestions just enough so you can get your point across without out and out torturing him, unless you want to go that route.

And don't forget, if he divorces you, I'd be moooore than happy to worship at your feet until you take pity on me. :loveya:

37. One idea I read somewhere else
The wife would put the batteries in the remote control backwards.

Another idea involved creative use of Super Glue but that ended up with an embarrassing trip to the Emergency Room and costs lots of money.
