De Paul is another one. I look at it as saving money and not contributing to the horrible consumerism our country has come to.

Anyone else shop at these places?

1. Yep. Many times the lables are still on them.
The quality of much of the stuff is amazing.

3. I get lots of stuff there
It takes extra time going through piece by piece but I got a lot of my favorite shirts from Goodwill. That's the only thrift store close to me, there used to be another one I forgot the name of, it closed a couple of years ago.
I try not to consume so much. Well now that the price of food's going up I'm glad I've already learned to do without shopping anyway :o

4. almost exclusively
I am tall and have broad shoulders, long arms, and a fat head so it's sometimes difficult to find my size, but I love thrifts, consignment shops, and vintage stores! The prices are always better, and if you're willing to put some work into it, you can find some things in great condition. As a guy, it's a little harder because we tend to wear our clothes until they are threadbare, but still worth it.

6. I find the best clothes in the small charity shops in more upper income towns.
These are the places raising money for children's programs, animal rescue or local hospital charity programs. The stores are smaller but I usually find something on every trip.

7. I just went to Goodwill this past weekend for jeans for my daughter
She is 6 and will be out of the size she's currently wearing in the not too distant future. I decided that I'd try Goodwill for jeans because I just can't see paying $25 to $30 at Old Navy or Macy's or even $20 at an outlet. I got 4 pairs of almost new size 8 jeans and a nice acrylic top for $5.30. I will definately be shopping at Goodwill again for her.

Most of the clothes in the mall are downright ugly and cheap fabric. I saw some "new fashions" for fall dresses that were straight off the set of Bewitched, or so it seemed. Those A-line flat dress with no collar and sleeves. And then you have those prints that are better suited for couches or curtains.

10. The St. Vincent in my city....
...is about the last place I would go to get clothes. The stuff we have is just about out the door and into the Dumpster, it's that bad. I'd go there if I needed clothes to wear for a messy project that I could just throw out when I finished, or if I wanted to get "dress-up" play stuff for my kids.

My kids have gotten some really good clothes at Goodwill -- and that's no small consideration considering how fast they grow and the cost of clothes at other stores.
