7. What are some of the Greatest Canadian TV shows?
SCTV is my all time favorite. After that and Kids in the Hall, they start to get a little hazy.

Do all those cartoon shows you guys make for PBS and Nickelodeon count?

Then there was the golden age of Vancouver-based variety shows like The Irish Rovers and the Bobby Vinton show...

14. I'd go with those two, and not a few British ones. Python at least.
Along with Dr. Who, Father Ted, Fawlty Towers, The Fast Show and others.

18. RTI made a great series about Leonardo da Vinci
that was even shown, dubbed, on CBS TV in the early 1970s for a summer.

41. Trailer Park Boys!!
And BBC America subscribers will get to see it starting in April. Don't worry, I'll post reminders! Just remember to watch the late-night airing, not the prime time expurgated version. Expurgated trailer park boys just wouldn't make much sense.

(Ricky to judge, in his trial on charges of siphoning and selling gasoline in the trailer park, asserting his right to a fair trial under the People's Choices and Voices Act: "But if I can't smoke and swear, I'm fucked!")

http://www.showcase.ca/trailerparkboys/about/

Overall, BBC wins the best TV show sweepstakes hands down. I'm currently re-watching Inside the Line (Brit title, Between the Lines), and deciding whether to take the leap and get a code-free DVD player so I can buy and re-watch the greats from the 70s and 80s, like Secret Army (the Belgian line returning downed Allied pilots to the UK) and Tenko (Brit, Australian and Dutch women in a Japanese prison camp) and Boys from the Blackstuff (unemployed asphalt workers in northern England). Unlike goodies like the various mystery and comedy series -- Red Dwarf! -- they've never been put out in zone 1 (North American) format.

Aussie TV isn't too shabby either. And Canadian TV does hit some lows (that talking St. Bernard, and the dreadful Yes Minister wannabe a few years back) along with its highs.

22.  A third in total agreement with "The Simpsons"
and a coupla others:
Twin Peaks (although it died out for most of it's second season, it came back with the most heavily weird finale ever!)

Six Feet Under (although the last season was uneven, the first two were mind blowing)

Barely edging out "The Simpsons", IMO.

John Cleese, a great cast, and sheer comic genius.

I got so sick of MASH after Blake and Trapper left. Alan Alda's weepy, weak "concerned" look (you know the one I'm talking about)labeled us Liberals as wimps to this day.
