Goddamn fucking doctors!
I saw the doctor three months ago, and she wrote me two prescriptions with NO REFILLS!

Now she is saying I have to go back to see her again to get a refill.

It's goddamn Singulair, for asthma, and I can barely afford to pay for that, much less another doctor visit.

What the fuck?

I don't HAVE another hundred to waste on getting a prescription for a drug I've been on for close to 10 years.

I can't fuckin' deal with this shit.

1. Yeah , and when you go there they barely see you for 5 minutes
and if you ask them questions they act like you are wasting their time.

3. That's Advair, I think.
I'm on that.

It totally kicks arse. But it's a bit strong -- it's a long-acting bronchodialator and a steroid together.

Singular isn't quite as strong and doesn't have as many side effects.

6. i think in the long run it makes your asthma worse
my doc in india asked me to avoid some foods and miraculously my asthma decreased. he asked me to avoid slimy foods (yogurt, shrimp, eggs, tomatoes, okra)

Avoid okra???
I can't do it, man....

The only reason I can think of not to take Advair is that it does seem like the long-acting bronchodialators can predispose a person to sudden death from an asthma attack. Of course, that might be because only people with really severe asthma take Advair or other long-acting bronchodialators.

11. Fsck, I'm on three of those.
Advair, Celebrex, and Zyrtec-D (has pseudoephedrine).

But without them I'd be wheezing, not able to breathe through my nose, and in a great deal of pain. (I'm only on the Celebrex because I am allergic to most NSAIDS -- my doctor would much rather me be taking Aleve or another traditional NSAID but they give me hives.)

9. Every visit they get about $90
You pay $5, $10 or $15 for it, but the insurance company pays ~$80 for it.

This is why we need single payer - the insurance industry (specifically HMO's), in the long term, is not a valid business model.

12. I don't have insurance
I have to pay the 90 bucks myself.

Plus HUNDREDS for the meds on top of that.

14. That...is fucked up.
You need a new Doctor.

One who specializes in the Uninsured.

Otherwise you will have to face these prices.

Damn, Obama friggen has to win.

15. Depends on the insurance.
I have a "high deductible" plan through work (it's funky IMO but it works OK as long as you budget ahead). Until I meet my out of pocket maximum for the year (deductible + coinsurance), I get bills from the doctors.

My last one was for $150... but because of the insurance plan this was "negotiated" down to $65. That's what the doctor's office billed me. Since I budgeted ahead, it was a case for me to log onto my HSA account and instruct them to pay the bill.

I'm lucky to have a great employer who provides a reasonably good insurance package.

Mark.

13. All my doctors have started doing that recently.
I now have to go in once every month to see three doctors to refill every presecription. x(

So now I have to add the $75 in copays to see the doctors into the copays for the meds every month when I budget for the monthly cost of those meds. And I have to take additional time off from work every single month to see my doctors every month.

It's a total pain in the ass. It's all because they all need more guaranteed visits to increase their revenue, and I think the insurance companies have passed some new regulation that demands smaller prescriptions with fewer refills.
:grr:

17. My doctor does the same exact thing to me.
The worst part is that even when I have another appointment lined up, he takes his own sweet time (up to 2 weeks sometimes) faxing in renewals on my Zoloft.

There is a real reason I am complaining about Zoloft withdrawals too. Without my Zoloft, I get horrible physical and mental withdrawal sickness. Yet, he takes his own damn sweet time faxing in the renewals. He never does it in time to keep me from having to go through abrupt stopping of a drug that causes some serious shit to happen to some people.
