Pour one out for Jimi tonight...
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 01:59 PM by RT Atlanta
He left this world 38 years ago today and we're still listening and learning from his musical legacy. :hippie:

(edited to include photo of the master at work)

2. R.I.P. Jimi

I was a freshman in college....Jimi was scheduled to come to Pgh. (his first visit). My new friends and I were talking about getting tickets when we heard the news of his death.

4. Angel
What really saddens me about his death was the musical direction that he was moving in at the time of his death. Angel, Freedom, Drifting, In from the Storm, Astro Man (dig the rythm & bass line in that one) still sound new and innovative 38 years later.

5. He was a genius - I still hear something new in all of his albums
but Cry of Love....some of my favorite songs are on there. Actually, all of Hendrix' songs are my favorites except for Hey Joe, which I never have liked and gets played to death.

3. Every time I hear something by Jimmy
I'm amazed by how modern and innovative it sounds. His music was seriously way ahead of his time.
