Need help with an old sci-fi movie

Made in the 50's or 60's

World War 2 took like 20 years to finish. After the war and about the only thing I remember is when they finally got a space program going they shot the capsule with a cannon

1. Sounds very much like "Things To Come"...but

...that film was made in 1936. They accurately predicted WWII but had it going on for decades. And the final scene is a capsule being shot to the moon from a huge cannon. Do you think that may be the one?
