With all the posts lately about drinking, I have a serious question here...

Anyone else besides me simply does not like to drink at ALL?

I just don't like the effects alcohol have on me.

1. Me, most of the time.

Once in awhile I like a glass of wine with dinner, but I don't like the sensation of being intoxicated. So I seldom have more than a single glass; even that gets me slightly buzzed. I don't enjoy that sensation much any more -- got all that out of my system in college.

But, with a three year old, I pretty much don't drink at all, ever, except on vacation. Looking forward to when the kids are older so I can tie one on every now and again.

I like the taste and feel of a good drink, but I don't like the feel beyond one. I've been a bit light after a drink or two, but never what most people call drunk.

and then I threw up. That's when I discovered that my stomach has a normal alcohol tolerance, whereas my body seems to have a rather high one. :P

But it took me a long time to even discover that, because I rarely have more than one or two drinks at a time.

I never drink, and i'm surrounded by nice bars. It just doesn't appeal to me. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one so thank you for bringing this up!

I enjoy beer. But hard liquor numbs me and I do not like the way it makes me feel. Same with wine. Beer, by contrast, is nothing more than barley soda.

The blinding headaches, the deadly nausea, the endless prayer sessions on bended knee in front of the Porcelain Throne, the taste of dirty carpet in the mouth, they eyes glued shut with eye boogers, the room that won't stop spinning THE WRONG FUCKING WAY, the missing key ring that you remember two days later you hid from yourself while drunk so you wouldn't be tempted to take a midnight drive (yep, really happened)...

That just boggles my mind.

I can handle a few beers, and even getting snockered once in a while. But I have never had any desire or any proclivity to get so damned fucked up that I couldn't find my ass with both hands, or do things I couldn't remember doing or saying.

Actually, I think it's kinda dumb. But that's just me.

I did have two glasses of Reisling this weekend when my wife and I hosted a liberal potluck, but that is the first I have had in nearly 4 years.

Don't care for the effects, and the taste does nothing for me, either.
