8. She's the daughter of the President.
If she does something crazy, she's going to get into the papers.

One of the burdens of being related to a President, I suppose...

10. I know, but it's not right...
it wasn't right when the RW tried to make fun of Chelsea, it is not right to make that picture of Jenna public.

13. was it right
when many on the right were saying how ugly Chelsea was...?

14. No, it was not right...
We should be above that kind of stuff. Whether she parties and drinks heavily is NONE of our business.

15. I agree...we should be...
but to "some" it's only fair...you know it can get like high school sometimes when it comes to the media and such...especially tabloids...

not only that...if she puts herself in a compromising position than it's her own fault...

16. It is our business when the twins are given preferential
treatment when breaking the law. While governor of Texas their daddy signed into law harsh penalities for those who have been arrested several times for underage drinking. Both twins have violated that law but have suffered NONE of its consequences.

From 2001:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/columnists/wickham/2001-06-06-wickham.htm

Bush twins should get scrutiny when they break law

WASHINGTON — There are at least two good reasons why the media shouldn't ignore Jenna Bush's sophomoric attempts at teen-age drinking.

First, the zero-tolerance underage drinking act she violated in April and is accused of violating again last month was signed into law four years ago by her father while he was governor of Texas. The 1997 bill — enacted at a time when Texas had the nation's worst record for traffic fatalities involving underage drinkers — mandates strict penalties for violators.

snip

It's not a private matter when the children of the nation's first family break the law. Jenna Bush's most recent underage drinking charge came just two weeks after a judge ordered her to attend an alcohol awareness class and perform eight hours of community service for the April offense.

In another act of bad judgment, Jenna Bush sent her Secret Service detail to bail her boyfriend out of a Texas jail back in February after he was arrested on a charge of public intoxication. Is this a good use of the tax dollars that the president is fond of calling "the people's money"?

Had Chelsea Clinton behaved in such a way the RW and their media allies would have called for an investigation. Clinton would have been pilloried for allowing his daughter to behave in such a fashion and for the waste of taxpayer resources.

Being fair to the RW bullies gets us nowhere. That is why they command so much attention because they don't shirk, they are not nice and polite.

21. It was published in the 'National Enquirer'
which just happened to have been one of the targets of the infamous anthrax attacks right after 9-11. A staff photographer died as a result, I believe. It's interesting how much time Asscroft has for pursuing trivial matters yet the anthrax cases have disappeared from view.

When my son was born I'd been awake for 36 hours and probably looked a little wasted myself.

Manhood confirmed by twins. He does look happy. They could still be props.

19. To me the point is...
How come you never see Mr. Family Values in a picture with his daughters? The reason there were no stories about Chelsea was because there was noting to say. She was raised by two loving parents and she was a model daughter. I have yet to see proof of this with his kids.

22. I feel sad for the girls
I don't think this family lives the family values they purport, and the girls are on the losing end.

These pics have been beaten up enough on the web and long ago here on DU.

I have no real issues with the twins. I do, however, have issues with Jebby's children, especially Noelle, who has received special treatment above others for her crimes.

How many DUers can say they haven't had a falling down good time at least once in their lives? I know I have, and I was/am a good person.

I didn't like it when the pugs picked on Chelsea, and think as long as the girls are not criminals, they should be off limits.

23. What you are saying is that they are victims of fate?
Because, you could say the same about their dad. He lived a life of privilege and irresponsibility under the same circumstances.
