Okay . . . for reasons of which I cannot go into . . .
I need any of you to do your best to cheer me up.

I am feeling terribly alone, terribly ugly, terribly old and just plain
TERRIBLE.

Life can certainly *sucketh mightily* (as DTBK would say) and today it is certainly doing just that.

waaahhhhhhhh

7. The sun Will come out tomorrow

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than

It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out -

The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It might be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

21. ok just read this, not only will it cheer you up it will make you feel
brilliantly superior:

Bubba had long heard the stories of an amazing family tradition.
It seems that his father, grandfather and great-grandfather had all been able to walk on water on their 21st birthday. On that special day, they'd each walked across the lake to the bar on the far side for their first legal drink.

So when Bubba's 21st birthday came a round, he and his pal Jim Bob took a boat out to the middle of the lake, Bubba stepped out of the boat and nearly drowned! Jim Bob just barely managed to pull him to safety.

Furious and confused Bubba went to see his grandmother. 'Grandma,' he asked, 'it's my 21st birthday, so why can't I walk 'cross the lake like my pappy, his father, and hi s father before him?'
Granny looked deeply into Bubba's troubled eyes and said, 'Because your father, your grandfather and your great grandfather were born in January, when the lake is frozen, and you were born in July, you frickin' idiot.'

:toast: :hi:

24. Okay. (Warning: girl talk enclosed)
My husband & I went over to visit my b-i-l and s-i-l today. Nice visit. At some point, Andrea (my s-i-l) asked me what I was doing later in the day...I confessed that I had to do some shopping. Bra shopping.

Now, I don't like to shop. I surely don't like to shop for clothes. Andrea asked about my plans (Plans? Shit, I just get in and get out. Yeesh.) and whether or not I've been "fitted." Well, no, I haven't. Ever. I've never been fitted for a bra. I'm a "grab a box and hope for the best" shopper--Nothing ever fits quite right anyway, right?

Wrong thing to say. Andrea actually talked me into getting fitted for a bra (for the first time, at age *40*) and I decided that I should do it. Painless, she said. No problem, she said.

I skipped Victoria's Secret, her first suggestion, because I have never found a single thing in there that I could wear. So, I decided to brave Nordstrom's. (No, thank you, I don't want a perfume sample...) Picture me, a horribly failed girly-girl, haunting the Nordstrom bra area. A saleswoman asked me if I needed some help and inexplicably, I said no. More haunting. Several minutes later, the same woman came up and said, "Can I help..." and I turned blue, and covered my face. She asked, "Do you need a fitting?"

Me: "I sort of told my sister-in-law that I'd get fitted today. Nngggh."

Her "Are you a little uncomfortable about that?"

Me: "Uh, heck, yeah."

Her "Okay, it's no big thing. Come with me."

Off we went to the fitting room, and she told me to take off my shirt. Uh, okay. Did that, and she measured me here and there.

"Be right back," she said.

So, she came back with like 5 bras. Fine. Then she told me to take off my bra.

"Seriously? You want me take off my bra," I asked.

"Yes. You have to try these one."

Oh, crap. So, I took off my little comfy, cottony weekender bra, a beat-up 36B that I wear to sort of bind them up and keep them held down. Suddenly, I was naked from the waist up in a fitting room with a stranger.

She held up bra #1 and helped me get it on, and then told me to lean over and "shake them in." I thought I might die right then and there.

"What size is this this," I asked.

"38DD."
"What?"
"38DD."
"Double D? No, really?"
"Really. Shake them in."

I did indeed shake them in, and glory hallelujah, that bra fit. So did the next one and the next one (and all it took was repeatedly showing a stranger my boobs at Nordstrom.)

38DD.

Shitfire.

I'm embarrassed. Why didn't I know this all along?

Feel better now?

25. Here's BBC radio blooper for you:
Margery Eel used to have a radio program on BBC called "Music and Movement" for infants that would help them imagine different shapes.
One day she said "Today we are going to play a hiding and finding game with music...We are going to pretend that you have got some balls and I am going to hide them...The Music will tell you where your balls are...They may be high up on the ceiling...or low down on the floor...Now stand up and dance around looking everywhere for your balls... Now toss them in the air and play with them."
