XPost from the Computer help forum... Weird Firefox 3 Theme problem
I was browsing Mozilla and looking for new themes...I download several and then restarted Firefox so I could look and evaluate them. Well, it started up with a DIFFERENT theme than I had to start with even though I had not changed it...and now the damn thing won't let me install or change to any other themes. In the add on window when I click on the themes button it does not show any themes to choose from and no way to uninstall the current theme. It doesn't list ANY themes. Any idea of what's going on and how I can fix it? I don't want to keep this theme.
Also, the other parts of the add on manager window works fine. It shows my other add ons and plugins. It just doesn't show any options when you click on the theme icon.
And even tried to reinstall Firefox 3 hoping it would revert to the default theme. No luck. I don't even know WHAT theme it is because I didn't even get a chance to preview the ones I installed.
When I go to the add on Themes section there ARE NO THEMES listed...nada...not even the one that's obviously currently running. No list, no options to install, uninstall, use....NOTHING. Just a Picture of a theme that is not the one running and nothing to click on.
7. Once you install a new theme, it gets listed under a fourth tab of the add-on applet.
At the bottom of that fourth tab is a "Restart Firefox" button. You have to restart Firefox this way, or none of your subsequent theme changes will take place. Once you've changed it here, you can change themes normally from now on.
When I restart it and look at the install tab it says that the other themes were installed successfully. However, when you to the Theme tab in order to select which theme you want to use there is NOTHING. Nothing to select. It's obviously a glitch with this theme, but since I did not chose to use this theme in the first place I don't even know how to look it up on the web to see if it was a known bug. And I can't find the a picture on the themes listed at the Mozilla site that looks like this one.
I've used Firefox for years and I've never had this happen. I am very familiar with HOW the theme changing this is supposed to work. It's just not working with this one.
6. If that doesn't work, isn't there also a way to go into
The computer and re-set the computer so that it does just what it ws doing in the past - say thirty six or forty eight hours ago? Seems like someone here on DU helped me solve one of my computer crises by suggesting that.
I was hoping there was a way to do it without it. Like if anyone knew where the friggin theme files were located. I've looked through the Firefox directory and can't ferret out any files that seem related to themes.
12. After you save bookmarks and delete profile, try to just restart Firefox

It should just recreate a profile without the need to reinstall.
1. Save bookmarks 2. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows login/user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and delete the Profiles folder 3. Restart Firefox and import bookmarks
