Isn't it strange
We have all these machines for saving labour; we have cars to travel long distances without exerting ourselves, buildings have escalators and lifts so we don't have to climb stairs, we have electric toothbrushes and wireless networks so we can spod in bed, and we have remote controls for absolutely everything.

And because we have so little physical work to do, we have to make machines and go to places where they have them in order to move our bodies and get some exercise while not actually achieving anything or going anywhere.

I am not making any point. It just occurred to me.

2. The weird thing is that our lives are no less complicated with all our labor-saving devices.
People devote as much time to housework now as the did in the early 1900s. They just have more to clean and higher standards now. Should they have any extra time or money, industry creates a new "problem" and a product to solve it.

5. Very true.
Back in the old days, the future was supposed to be full of leisure, because we would have machines do everything so we could all just goof off instead.

Here we are in the future, and the bit about the machines is correct, but we are working probably more hours than any time in the last 100 years.

7. Yup, and if I have my way...
there will eventually be a kickass machine for what I was told "DU has an abstinence only policy" to talk about. So, I won't talk about it. Still...it'd be a lovely machine to have.

16. Tomorrow night I can go out dancing
Emily won't be there, unfortunately, but I will certainly get to dance with somebody.

Sunday afternoon/evening I will take the train to east London and hang out with the hare krishnas for their regular Sunday programme, which I always like.

How about you?

22. Ah, I know what you mean
I found out recently that I won't go with somebody I don't fancy. I have to like somebody, physically or emotionally, before I will be intimate with them. Even if the alternative is being alone. I won't have sex with someone just to avoid not having sex with anyone.

My problem is that my tastes are very much out of my league. So I remain alone. And I sometimes feel like a loser too.
