Which former president do you think Obama is most like?
Is he a Jefferson? A Lincoln? A Grant? (I hope not!) An FDR? JFK?

Who do you think Obama is most like, in terms of intellectual capacity, willingness to use it, understanding of the world (historical and current events and situations, as well as mathematics, science, and the arts), culturedness, vision, ability to communicate, ability to rally/manage/lead others, understanding of the roles of government and citizens, personal integrity, (or lack of any of the aforementioned), and so forth.

I simply do not know enough about presidents, other than the few biggies offered above, to offer any kind of real evaluation.

I *do* know that he is least like Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II.

Who do you think he's most like? Or combination of?

1. I'd suggest he is closest to Jefferson.
In terms of intelligence and understanding of the world.

But I don't think he's like any former president. I actually think he's the American Tony Blair.

12. He's bringing back the politics of William Jennings Bryan.
Midwestern populist. Excellent speaker. Progressive values expressed in religious terms. I think he'll be a little more pragmatic and effective though.

23. Taken in context, it wasn't so bad.
The social darwinists of the time were no different than today's neo-cons who have an "every man for himself" attitude. In a way, Bryan was fighting the same enemy. The same forces that are using the evangelical movement today were using the social darwinist theories of that time for largely the same agenda.

21. Clearly Lincoln.
Humble origins, Illinois transplant, following one of the most screwed up and appalling 8 years in Presidential history.

At least the people of the 1850's voted for two different incompetents.

Obama better be another Lincoln, because historically when the nation is as screwed up as it now is, it needs a great President to rise to the occasion.

22. Oh, and by the way, about Grant...
He is one of the most unjustly maligned Presidents in history.

I wrote about this great American on another website:

And protected the newly freed blacks.

We all know what happened when they left.

24. I really think the man has a style all his own. He is incomparable.
He has the possibility to lead us into the new millennium with a style and grace. A dawning of a new age, if you will.
