How do you tactfully get out of a "friendship"?

I was at the pub having a beer last night and talking to Grey and Kat, who I very much enjoy talking to. Then this dude I sort of hang out with (usually cause he calls me) walks in. I don't mind the guy, but he can be such a tool sometimes. So of course he sits next to me and starts being one, and then Kat leaves and Grey turns back to the boxing match. Then I'm stuck with Mr. time monopoly regaling me with stories I don't care about while I try to pretend he had a shower that morning.

If you sleep with his mother/sister/girlfriend, you'll stop being friends and he'll think it was his decision not to like you anymore.

It's tactful - by getting in a nutshot before he can, he will respect your position as the Alpha and leave you alone, becoming a docile member of the pack.

take that out and ask him if he's found Jesus. Ten minutes of tales of your "coming to the Lord" and my bet is he's outta there.

I dunno--how about just steering clear of this person, and making an excuse if you DO run into him. "Gee, I'd love to talk, but I gotta go do this thing... Right NOW."
